Hello all!

Back from vacation...we had a great time. Very relaxing!

I just scheduled my second fill for May 12th....I was able to eat anything and everything on vacation and it REALLY freaked me out!!!!

Hubby and I are putting on the "full court press" starting this week. Good food, excercise....you name it. We are both so disappointed in how we look and feel, so it is time to get our butts in gear!

To The Women In My Circle

When I was little, I used to believe in the concept of one best

friend, and then I started to become a woman. And then I found out that if you allow your heart to open up, God would show you the best in many friends.

One friend's best is needed when you're going through things with

your children.

Another friend's best is needed when you're going through things with

your mom.

Another will be there when you need someone to understand about your weight and why you cant seem to lose those extra pounds that haunt you every day.

Another when you want to shop, share, heal, hurt, joke, or just be.

One friend will say let's pray together, another let's cry together,

another let's fight together, another let's walk away together.

One friend will meet your spiritual need, another your shoe fetish,

another your love for movies, another will be with you in your season of

confusion, another will be your clarifier, another the wind beneath your wings.

But whatever their assignment in your life, on whatever the occasion,

on whatever the day, or where ever you need them to meet you...with

their gym shoes on and hair pulled back or to hold you back from making

complete fool of yourself ...those are your friends.

It may all be wrapped up in one woman, but for many it's wrapped up

in several ... one from 7th grade, one from high school, one since having WLS, several from the college years, a couple from old jobs, several from church, on some days your mother, on others your sisters, and on some days it's the one that you needed just for that day or week when you needed someone with a fresh perspective, or the one who didn't know all your baggage, or the one who would just listen without judging...those are good friends/best friends.

I thank my girlfriends, those who honor intimacy, those who hold

trust, and those who hold me up when life is just too heavy!

The special bond we share is unique. Thanks for the words we've

shared. The prayers we've sent up. The laughs, the tears, the phone calls, the emails, the shopping, the movies, the lunches, the dinners, posting, posting, posting and the reading, reading, reading.... So whether you've been there 20 minutes or 40 years, I love you and thank you for being the friend I need when I needed her!

Pass this on to the women that God has placed in your life to make a

difference. I just did!

Hey TXTammy (to differentiate from JerseyTammy :))! Mikey's & my fills are 4 weeks apart. That seems to be long enough for them to settle in & decide just how much they're going to restrict us. My 2nd fill did take a week to kick in -- weird experience. And now it seems to be backing off again, so maybe it was hormonal swelling.

But yeah, I'd think that end of May or sometime in June should do the trick for you! Hang in there, it really does get easier when your fill is working harder! And good job on starting the exercise! You'll be ahead of the game if you do! A few of us have a "no chocolate" pact... you're welcome to join if you'd like! :)

Welcome back from vacation, Michelle! Glad you had fun! And you're just in time to kick it into high gear! :rant: Glad you're joining us for the race!

And how is everyone doing this morning? Drinking that Water? Looking for ways to increase your lifestyle activity level? Starting some exercise? I've been searching for stairs to climb so I can get another point! Heh, I might be obsessive compulsive! :)

I love that poem, J-Tammy! It is so right about there being many friends instead of one best friend! I'm so glad I found you guys & that we're all along for our weight loss journeys! I'm so excited for us!! We're going to be new people & next year is going to be better then this one!!! (Been a long time since I could say that!)

Hi Everyone,

Haven't checked in for awhile. I had a busy weekend! Historic house tours Saturday and Sunday during the day and partying with friends at night both nights! At least I got alot of exercise. I was soooo hungry this weekend, I think because of my period. Does anyone else notice eating more at that time of the month? I was like the bottomless pit! I didn't gain anything though, thank goodness, probably because I walked so much all weekend. I go for my second fill next Wedneday (I wonder how much he'll put in!) and I'm hoping that will help to control my portions and hunger better. I'm losing, but too slowly for my taste. I've lost a total of about 25 pounds since surgery and seem to be losing an average of 1 pound a week now, but I want that to be 2 at least. Been doing really good at the gym and have started weight training! I love it! I want to be able to kick ass!

I just got back from having my second fill. My first fill was 1.5cc and I only had .7 this morning. The technician initially put in 1.7 then looked with the flouroscope. Too loose, so she added .5 more, looked again, still too loose, then added .5 more. That was much better, so I had a totally of 2.7 added today. Every now and then I get a slight pain in my chest which I guess is from the fill. Now when I drink something, I have to go slower; I can't just keep swallowing like before. I had only lost 2 lbs since my last fill on April 6. I'm hoping it will start coming off faster now.

Heya Becky! Good to hear from you! Sounds like you had a great weekend! :) Yeah, I'm starving during that time as well. I hate it! And I seem to get more restricted, which is strange & irritating! :rant: Though it helps me stay on track, so I should be thankful! :) 25 pounds is awesome!! And with the weight training you'll compact, you're gonna look great!

Congrats on your restriction, Ms Vicki! Glad you got some more fill! Remember to slow down & give yourself time between bites! Be gentle to yourself & feel it out. :) (I repeat that to myself after each fill... actually, I say it before each meal, lol, Mikey must just love living with me! :))

Major victory for me!

I started weight training tonight! YAHOO! We have a home gym and lots of free weights, but I never manage to get off my butt to use them!

So, before dinner and while hubby was on the phone, I made it upstairs and got an upper body work out in!

Slow and steady!!!

I worked out for the first time today.....well haven't worked out in weeks...or like months. So i walked for 30 minutes at 6:00 am ...it felt great. I am going to do some Gazelle tonight. If yall know what a gazelle is...it always kicks my butt!!! WEll good night everyone, and chat with ya tomorrow!

I weighed this morning, up 2 pounds. JanetC, I'm in with the no chocolate pact....Do I need to take an oath or something?

I have decided I need to give up all obvious sugar, I understand there is sugar in lots of foods, but cake, Cookies, candy, etc...Those things are not on the "good food" list. Because sugar has been my friend for so many years I believe I should say good-bye to it....Divorce it...Yeah, I'll see it around, but I will not have a close relationship with it anymore.

Any ideas about a ceremony or something tangible I can do make our parting of the ways seem real?

Anyone want to join me with a food divorce of you own?

Hi all!

JanetC: Count me in too. Although I don't know how to "download" the recording sheets you so kindly provided. Could you give me some instructions?

I am scheduled for my 2nd fill on May 15th. I find my band to be very flexible...meaning, one day restricted like crazy and the next very little restriction at all.

I can eat salad REALLY well, which is surprising to me. I haven't really eaten ANY meat yet at all, other than ground beef or chicken breast (bite size) pieces. No pork chops, roast, steak, etc. but I honestly haven't felt deprived of it either.

I have not been PB'ing much at all anymore, but I do get the golf ball rather quickly when I reach a "full" level. No warning usually, it just starts. But, if I stop RIGHT THEN (with THAT bite!) I do okay.

My most annoying problem has been taking my medications. I have a total knee replacement, so every time I go to the dentist I have to take prophylactic antibiotics. I have to take FOUR capsules at a time. I open them and put them in a spoon of yogurt but they are still REALLY nasty (bitter) and it lasts a long time in my tastebuds!!! They tried to find an alternative, but liquid would require drinking almost 100cc and injections can only be given IV, not IM, so my dentist won't do it. So, I'm stuck with unloading capsules every time I go for an appointment. Also, one of my daily medications is a capsule and I have to do the same thing with that one. It's not that bad, it's just a hassle that I never had to deal with before. If I needed a medication I could just pop a pill--much easier for me than liquids. But, now I HAVE to take liquid because of the band. I know, I know...small sacrifice to pay, but it's just annoying to me.

I am hovering again at the 22 pounds lost mark. I confess that I haven't been exercising like I should, although I do eat quite well, I think.

And, I have to confess also that I had a part of a caffeine-free Coke last week for the first time...it was AWESOME!!! But, I'm not going to restart that habit. I have gotten used to no drink at meals and am satisfied with my Water and coffee the rest of the time.

All is going well for me overall with the band. It is no longer the entire focus of my life/time. It has blended smoothly into my life.

Stomach flu has been very rampant here the last 2-3 weeks. I really have a phobia about getting that...would that cause erosion or anything or would you just be sick like everyone else is sick?? Just wondering.

Guess that's all for now. I'll catch up on personals later this week. :)

My sister, neice and GREAT-neice are coming May 11, so I have quite a bit of getting ready to do. Mainly house cleaning and shopping for baby stuff.:) I can hardly wait to see them!!!

How do you guys get your "ticker" and "signature" and photos into your log area????? Do you have to download from a site??? Please help me, all you computer wizards out there!

Hey Nanster, I totally agree with you on the pills... wow it's just hard to get them down. I hate the taste and it's even hard when they are split in half.

As far as the ticker goes in your signature you just click on someone's ticker and it will link you to the website. You can go though the steps to create your own ticker with the designs and weights you want in it. When you are done you will copy the BB code (they give you several but this site uses the BB code) and then come back here.

Once here go into the User CP area (control panel) and you can create a signature. From there you will paste the code you copied from the other site.

For copy and paste you can use your right mouse button and select copy (or paste) from the menu. You can also do Ctrl C (to copy) or Ctrl V (to paste).

Good luck with your signature.

      Sometimes reading the posts here make me wonder if some people just weren't mentally ready for WLS and needed more time with the bariatric team psychiatrist. Complaining about the limited drink/food choices early on... blah..blah...blah. The living to eat mentality really needs to go and be replaced with eating to live. JS

        I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

      I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
      I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
      Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

      Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
