Ok I am off doing birthday stuff but I just had to pop in and share this with you guys. Love ya and hope ur all having a great weekend............

I've seen two shows lately that went on and on about how mid-life is a

great time for women. Just last week Oprah had a whole show on how

great menopause will be... Puh leeeeeeeze! I've had a few thoughts of my

own and would like to share them with you. Whether you are pushing 40,

50, 60 (or maybe even just pushing your luck) you'll probably relate.

Mid-life is when the growth of hair on our legs slows down. This gives

us plenty of time! to care for our newly acquired mustache.

In mid-life women no longer have upper arms, we have wing spans. We

are no longer women in sleeveless shirts, we are flying squirrels in

drag.

Mid-life is when you can stand naked in front of a mirror and you can

see your rear without turning around.

Mid-life is when you go for a mammogram and you realize that this is

the only time someone will ask you to appear topless.

Mid-life is when you want to grab every firm young lovely in a tube top

and scream, "Listen honey, even the Roman empire fell and those will

too."

Mid-life brings wisdom to know that life throws us curves and we're

sitting on our biggest ones.

Mid-life is when you look at your-know-it-all, beeper-wearing teenager

and think: "For this I have stretch marks? "

In mid-life your memory starts to go. In fact the only thing we can

retain is Water.

Mid-life means that your Body By Jake now includes Legs By Rand McNally

-- more red and blue lines than an accurately scaled map of Wisconsin.

Mid-life means that you become more reflective...You start pondering

the "big" questions. What is life? Why am I here? How much Healthy

choice ice cream can I eat before it's no longer a healthy choice?

But mid-life also brings with it an appreciation for what is important.

We realize that breasts sag, hips expand and chins double, but our

loved ones make the journey worthwhile. Would any of you trade the

knowledge that you have now, for the body you had way back when? Maybe our

bodies simply have to expand to hold all the wisdom and love we've

acquired. That's my philosophy and I'm sticking to it!

OK..so this pain in my side is starting to really bother me. I just don't understand it. My general pract. was worried that maybe they bothered whatever is left after an appendectomy (spelt wrong i am sure) when I had my surgery. He said that something is left in there after the surgery (what i don't know) but that it could be shifted causing the jabbing pain in my side. UGH.....I don't want another surgery!! I am totally jumping the gun, but they have put on meds to cure up any infection and the pain is still there. It hurts really bad when I attempt to exercise. Notice I say attempt! Hope everyone is doing better than me!

Man, Stacey! Has the bladder infection pain all cleared up? I'm worried about you, girl! You drinking enough fluids? I hope they find the cause fast! I'll be thinking about you this weekend & Monday... let us know as soon as you can! ;)

Tammy, lol, love the mid-life stuff! It sums up my life right now, though I REALLY don't think of myself as mid-life! Augh!!

Stacey: Are they sure it's a bladder infection and not something else? If it gets worse I would head to the ER for a full work up.

JanetC: I absolutely think that our body hangs onto set points with our weight. I am 251 right now and this is one of mine I believe b/c I was this weight for a couple of years. Once I jump this hurdle I think my next one will be at 220 because I sat there for a couple of years too.

Have a good night. DH wants to pop in a movie.

Y'all have been doing great! I haven't checked in for a while now, so I thought I would give an update. I don't know if you remember the extream pain I had after surgery but they discovered I had a horseshoe kidney. I have to get it checked for some reason on the 1st. I have made it 35 years w/ no problem. I am finally loosing weight, my highest was 329 and I weigh 278 this morning! That has me happy. I have had trouble with head hunger and snacking, working on that. I am going to start checking in here more it seems to help me.

WOW pthrlisa...that is awesome weightloss! Way to go!!!

Julie: I don't think they know what the heck is going on, but they do think I had a bladder infection because I had blood in my urine and something else that detects a bladder infection. Sorry if thats to graphic for some. But I took RX they prescribed and I guess it may have worked on my bladder infection but hasn't touched the side pain. I go tomorrow at 7:00 am for test.

BIG NEWS.....my sister is in Guatemala right now with her son. Thisi s only a visit, they won't get to bring him home until the end of May...but I saw them last night on the webcam and he is soooooo cute, and they look so happy. They have been wanting children for 7 years now, and it is finally happening. Everyone pray that this continues its journey of being a complete blessing. The birth mother only has 1 more time to sign of her rights as the birth parent and then he gets his citizenship to the US!!!! I am sooooo excited!! If you pray, please do so for my sister and brother-n-law!

Non-scale victory yesterday...I fit into a size 14 shorts!!!! I was wearing an 18 when I started this journey..pushing into a 20 almost! It was a good moment!

Wow, pthrlisa! 51 pounds!!! BIG congrats!! What does having a horseshoe kidney entail? I've never heard of that! Hope you're ok! And welcome back to the chatty thread!

I'm thinking of you, Stacey! Let us know how that doctor appointment goes! You should be on your way, I think....

That's so cool that you got to see your new nephew on webcam, hope the adoption goes smoothly! And size 14 shorts, woohooooo!!! That's awesome! And we want pics!

LBT got the edit function back, so I'll update the front page, yay!! :) And I won't have to start a new thread... yet. :) I think there's a limit to how many times you can edit, but we haven't hit it yet!

The weekend was pretty good for us, though I fell yesterday & banged myself up pretty good. I hate being clumsy! We're just about over our colds, thank goodness! What an awful week!

Oh, we had lunch with the DFW LBTers on Sat, what fun! DonnaB was there! She acts all innocent on here, lol, but she's trouble! :) And great fun! Can't wait for our next get together!

My commitment for this week is to keep my calories under my fitday goal & to exercise more then my goal (just 1 min more, heh)... thereby having more calories out then calories in & losing weight. If only I could say it & have it be done! :)

Love ya'll! Here's to a great week!

Janet

:) Ughhhhhhh is all I can say:faint: ……I weighted this morning and I am up 3.4 lbs!!! **Sigh** Ok I didn’t have the chocolate cake instead I opted out for Cracker Barrel. Corn bread with butter and hash brown casserole aren’t my friends any more, dagnabbit! Oh I will miss them so. It just makes me mad how you have to work all week to take off 5 lbs and 2 days of eating you can put back on 3.4lb, where is the justice in that?:cry

Stacey- I am worried about you too!! Please go let them check into this more. I am not doctor but usually the earlier they catch something the easier it is to fix. Let us all know what you find how. You’re in our prayers!

Pthrlisa- I have never heard of a horseshoe kidney. Great weight lose!!! Wooo hooo girl! I think we are all dealing with the head hungries, hang in there we are all here to support each other.:)

Julie- can you please come to jersey and make me go to the gym!!! I still haven’t been able to get my butt moving!!! Someone tell me the secret to get moving , puh lezzzzzzz!

Janet- I am glad you and Mikey are back and feeling better. We sure did miss ya! Hmmm I have never thought of myself as mid-life either but funny how it has seem to have snuck up on me. And by your picture looks like you still have a way to go before you hit the “mid-lifes.” I got all the 40 jokes and cards!! I couldn’t help but laugh, but deep inside it kinda bothers me. Oh I am not going to get started!:violin:

Thank you all for all the birthday wishes. I truly don’t think I could have come this far with the support and friendship you all have extended me!!!

NOW SOMEONE COME TO JERSEY AND MAKE TO WALK, GO TO THE GYM, MOVE MY BODY OR SOMETHING!!!!!!!! I HAVE A GUEST ROOM! :director:

Mikey told me yesterday that you are only as old as you feel, heh. I feel 26... forever!

On the movement... ya gotta start slow, but ya gotta start! Stand up right now... yes, RIGHT NOW, Private!

1. Reach up high... as high as you can.

2. Now reach down low... as low as you can go.

Repeat that 5 times... slowly! Remember to breathe!

Now, standing with your arms ready to balance you:

1. Lift your right leg out -- like you're marching in a band... make the knee bend 90 degree angle (i.e. get those knees up high!)

2. Count 1.

3. Repeat it on the left leg.

4. Count 2.

Keep lifting left, right, left, right until you get to a count of 10!

Now hug yourself & say, "I did good! I move my body every day!"

You'd better be moving, Private! I just stood up & did it... if I can, you can! I'll check in with you tomorrow & we'll do some more lifts & add something else. Start slow... but do something EVERY day! We'll get there!

I need to change how I worded my weight loss, my higest weight was 329, day of surgery I was 307. So since my surgery I have lost 32 as of this morning. I didn't want to mislead you thinking I had lost 52 pounds in 2 months.

The horseshoe kidney is no big deal as far as I know, I go see a specialist on the 8th. they are connected at the bottom like a horseshoe, and rather than them being protected by your rib cage mine are in my belly. The conecting part is right behind my bellybutton. I have a 4 inch insision right over my left one, which is why I had so much pain, it was brusied. I was told it will be something to have on file and poss on a wrist id b/c they are more open to injury where they are. Thats all I know for right now.

Wow you are all doing great, those that fell off this weekend (me included dh and I got into a big fight ~ guess who got the munchies?) Today starts a fresh start.

Wow this thread is just amazing. I see people in here who were banded in Feb that do not post anywhere else but this thread. It's like the Feb. people need their own board or something. It's such a kinship to see the others from the similar date as you and how everyone is doing.

It's great to see the edited version of the list... i'm glad you can edit again after 24 hours.

Everyone is doing so great and it's it's very inspirational.

Heh, the best part is that we don't have to go to "General" & say, "Anyone else 9 weeks out?" We know a bunch of folks who are! :)

Wow, Cashley, you broke into Onederland!!

:):clap2::):high5::peace: Congratulations!!!!! :hail::first::party::rolleyes:

Thank you / Thank you...Thank you very much! (In My Best Elvis Voice)

My last fill is sooo tight but it allowed me to get the scale moving and break into the Onederland... I'm waiting on a call from my doctor on an unfill (I posted about it in Genral) but I really like losing weight and food just seems gross!

I do have to force myself to even get my Protein Shake down though. I've been staring at my moring one all morning... I guess it's going to be lunch now.

Heh, yeah, that sounds like a slight unfill might be in order! I wouldn't mind a touch of that... just a touch.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
