db5584 0 Posted August 4, 2011 I started my liquid diet last Monday. I lost 4 lbs in the first 4 days and I thought things were going great but I haven't lost a pound since. I think I may be retaining Water but who knows. I spoke to my surgeon about it and he said that my body may recognize the starvation causing my metabolism to slow. I can't help but think "if my metabolism is slowing now without the band is it going to be just as bad if not worse when I can only use a portion of my stomach?" My surgery is in 6 days and though I'm excited to shed the lbs and start a new chapter in my life I don't want to go through with this if it's not gonna work

amjcal 5 Posted August 5, 2011 I didn't do to good on my pre op diet as far as weight loss goes, after the surgery the pounds started dropping. You will do fine! Just listen to your doctor. Have a very successful journey!
aliciab 8 Posted August 5, 2011 The pre-op has nothing to do with the post op. It's simply to shrink your liver and prevent complications during surgery. You'll introduce real food and exercise, you'll be fine. A positive attitude goes a long way as well. You'll be fine
jennifer1 180 Posted August 6, 2011 also, dont be alarmed but after surgery once you start eating mushies and soft foods you may also gain weight. your body is going to go thru and adjustment phase, so dont be alarmed.
