Hi Everyone

Recommended Posts

That's what my hubby calls me when he's talking to the dogs, DaMama. Hi there! Banded words to live by are chew, chew, chew. Don't eat big bites, don't eat fast and don't swallow anything that's not mushy. Good luck and welcome to the fam.

**Wave** to DaMama. Welcome to the site!! :D

Welcome to Peggy as well!

To change your custom title (the 2nd name):

1. Go up to the user menu (up top, blue bar)

2. On the left where it says "User CP"

3. Click on that

4. In the user CP, click on: "Edit Profile" (3rd in the list on the left)

5. A little down the page, there's a box called the "Custom User Title". Clear it out, or click on the Reset box. Either should get rid of the 2nd line. Or you can put something clever in there (I'm not clever, lol, so mine's blank).

To create a post, when you're on a forum's "home" page... the page showing all the topics that are going: top left, just under the blue menu bar, is a button "New Thread". Click on it & you're on the way.

Most people go to the "Introductions" forum to start, but you don't have to, we'll wave at you no matter where you're at! :(

Good luck! If you need any help, feel free to PM (private message) me. :(

** Hugs & welcome to the journey!! **

Welcome! I'm only a week out from surgery, and my only advice (since I don't know much yet) is to remember that however you feel on days 3-4, it WILL get better!!!

Welcome to LBT DaMaMa & Peggy! You'll love this site - so much information and everybody is supportive. Snoop around and you'll catch on quickly to how it works.

Janet, you're so helpful! You and DH are a great addition to LBT. ;)

Hehe, cute name. Like DeLarla, my DH also calls me "DaMama" when talking to the dogs. Ok, to be honest - when we baby talk the dogs everything is pluralized, so I'm actually "DaMamas".

Peggy - it's pretty self-explanatory once you figure out some basics. Post starts a new message, reply tacks a message on to something else.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
