Hi all !

When can I introduce a salad to my diet? I'm almost to 4 weeks, but my Dr. was very aggressive with the diet. I moved from liquids to mushies with 5-6 days and last week started solids. Was able to have a small cheeseburger (no bread) and a half-slice or so of thin (very thin) crust pizza. Banded July 12, haven't had a single ounce of trouble. Other than getting that feeling in my chest when I tried bread, no issues at all.

I know some people have trouble with the lettuce so I was just wondering when I should re-introduce salad to the menu?? And is there anything to stay away from?

Thanks!

I am 4-weeks out and have started eating salad. I have no problem at all, however I have not got my first fill yet. I also cut up cucumbers and tomatoes with a little dressing, when I don't feel like the lettuce and other things in a salad.

I was banded on June 30th and I had a fill last friday. Yesterday was my first day having a small salad with lemon pepper fish. In my salad I had lettuce, tomatoes, and carrots (I made sure to chew the carrots very well). I had no problems at all except my bowels were loose later on in the day. I'm assuming it was that way because it was my first time since my surgery having veggies again.

Yes, very small slice. VERY thin crust and didn't even eat the crust crust :) BUT ... I haven't had my first fill yet. I expect much of that to change once that happens next week.

I haven't had problems with any food, but I rarely eat salads anymore, because I don't like chewing the lettuce anymore. It's like I don't like the texture or something or how much you have to chew simple lettuce.

Well I'm at restriction and do not handle salad very well. I end up picking and eating at the toppings. For example a grilled chicken salad..I am done at 3 or 4 strips. I have been banded for 18months and have lost 108lbs. I can eat pizza, but my one piece is usually pushing it, Thin crust does go down easier but bread is not a huige stuck issue for me, its usually Protein if I have eaten too big of a bite, Iusually shy away from bread but I am not going to eat pizza and gnaw a little bit on the crust, That's the best part. I don't really eat it or a lot of it but I will dip it in garlic butter and suck on it. I mean geez if you are going to eat fatty pizza you might as well enjoy it, after all I'm lucky to get one piece in compared to the 6 plus prior to banding, so I am going to enjoy it.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
