I went for a follow up visit with my primary care doctor to go over my cholesterol and A1c results.

My cholesterol is 150! It hasn't been under 200 in years!! Bad cholesterol, good cholesterol and even triglycerides are ALL normal!

But the BEST part of all was that my A1c (which measures diabetes) went from 6.4 to 5.3. Anything below 5.9 is normal.

My doctor said I am no longer considered diabetic!!

I can't believe how much of a difference the band has made in such a short time. Its like a miracle!!

Yay, I feel so great!

THAT IS GOOD NEWS.

so, tell me, has your Dr. taken you off all medications???

How much weight did you loose and in what period of time??

I'm in the same boat as you. My numbers are normal now also, but he still has me on the meds. Just reduced all the dosages way down.

Hopefully next visit he will start to DC them.

I was diagnosed last October and they had wanted to start me on Metformin but I refused because I wanted to diet.

Dieting didn't work so I was at the point where I was going to have to go on both diabetes and cholesterol medicine right before I had my band.

I'm so glad I avoided that!

Good luck to you as well! :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
