When you get a Fill, how long does your Dr. say to stay on Fluids?

Recommended Posts

I went for a fill on Monday. Spent 3 days on liquids, Then yesterday was on mushies.

Today my husband took me out to dinner, and I was nervous. I had some Fish, Mashed Potatoes, Gravy. and broth.< /p>

Now I couldn't eat all that, but the broth, and some of those Potatoes were good Then came the Fish ! I was still nervous..

I took a piece, and chewed, and ate slow. It went down like I was drinking Water. Not a problem at all ! So it was nice to go out.

But even nicer to know that, If you follow the rules, it should work out for you.

What's your Rules, when it comes to a Fill? / Does it work for you?

Shirley..

24 hours full liquids then 24 hours mushies. I did'nt get restriction for 6 months so I did'nt have any trouble eating solids once I could eat regular food.< /p>

Liquids the day of the fill, soft/mushy foods that evening, back to regular the next day.

If anything gives trouble, go back to the previous stage and progress slower.

Banded 2 years, only once have had problems with a fill being too tight.

My fills are usually very tiny. .2cc's. A larger fill I would definitely progress slower.

my doc just advised caution and not to eat any of my problem foods. She sort of leaves it up to the patient. I've never had any need for liquids, I can eat straight away after a fill.

12-24 hours of liquids.

24 hours of liquids, then proceed with caution. So far so good.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
