Unable to eat or drink

Recommended Posts

i am new here and desperate. I really need help/advice.

History:

I was banded in Oct. 2005 over the years I was not the ideal patient. I had to reschedule and miss appointments due to not being able to take off work. So, I have not been able to utilize the band to its fullest potential. I could not eat until around 10:30 or after daily. Also I had begun eating tons of ice cream because it went down easily and I love it:( I have lost from 265lbs or so down to 223lbs. Not very much.

This is what I need HELP with:

In August of 2010 due to the X-ray with Barium my Dr. realized my esphagus had been enlarged. Nothing was going down. Apparently the food I was able to eat was just sitting in my esophagus until acids dissolved it. So, Dr. decided to completely unfill my band. I was supposed to go back in 6 months and have the esophagus checked, unfortunately becasue of work I haven't done so. I know I have been able to eat more food than before, especially ice cream becasue I have gained 24pounds.

For the past 72 hours I have been unable to get anything but broth and Water down. Today I can barely get the broth or water down. I have to force it down and it hurts. I have been reguritating everything I try to get down from broth and water to ice cream Jello and tea. My Dr. doesn't see patients on Fri, and I am wondering what I should do or need to do.

am very miserable and tired of hurting.Anu insight you have and will share is greatly appreciated.

Amber

If you can't take in Water, go to the ER and have them contact your doctor immediately. As for the work thing, not trying to sound mean but if you don't take care of you, you won't have a job.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
