UNFILL HELLLLPPPPP!!!!

Recommended Posts

I was banded in Mexico, so I went to the local Certified Nurse here in AZ to remove some of the ccs put in at surgery.

I have a 10 cc band and had 3 put in during surgery. I was fine in the GREEN ZONE for the first 4 weeks... Then I got

tighter and tighter. So I went to the local Certified Nurse who does fills/unfills and she took out 1 cc. She had me do a

drink test, that worked yesterday just fine. But today, I again am slimming every time I take a bite. Will this go away or

should I get more taken out? I just want to be able to eat food again. I feel like food has become an absolute chore to

eat. I get stuck a lot. What would you do? Take out more, or see if the swelling will go down to loosen up?

My doctor calls or liquids for 24 hours and mushies second 24 hours after a fill OR Unfil. Have you been eating solids since your unfill? I would recommend doing liquids for a day so your stomach can recover from the unfil.

Like honk said, wether get a fill or unfill my dr. puts me on liquids for 1 day and mushies for 1 day. The last time I went to the dr I had some Fluid removed and she put me on liquids 2 days and mushies 2 days it was a little hard but it help my body adjust. Try liquids one day and mushies the next day after that. I surprised she didn't require it.

I don't think they should have filled you at surgery. They should have waited for healing for at least 1 month.

I also had 3 put in at surgery. Even though they say your band is empty at surgery it does normally have 1-3 cc's in it. They do that to prime it.

You could just be swollen. Do just liquids for a couple of days and then try mushies again.

Just so you know,, this is the way it works.

Anytime your band is adjusted so filled or unfilled.

Swelling is involved. So you want to stay on liquids

for 3days, then 1 day mushies, then try food.

That's the way it's done at our place, and it works pretty good.

If you still have swelling,, then back to liquids for even a week.

Then see about the mushies, then food.< /p>

Remember to chew, chew, chew. Eat s l o w l e y.

Take your time, put the fork down, and wait to see if it all went down.

Then start to eat again.

But the Veterans are wright ! Liquids for a while, or you could swell up

if you eat to soon, and then you start all over again.

If none of this works (IT WILL TAKE TIME!) then call your Doctor.

Can you get liquids down? If yes, then you can wait a bit and see how things go. If not, call right away. Dehydration can happen quickly and can be deadly.

All offices are different in their post-fill instructions. My surgeon had me do liquids the remainder of the fill day then back to regular food the next day. His nurse practitioner did my last fill. She had me to Clear Liquids for two days, full liquids for three days, then back to solids. We were coming up on a holiday weekend and she didn't want me ending up in the ER for an emergency unfill.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
