Ro-Jae327 4 Posted July 27, 2011 I had my first fill yesterday 7/26 and I can tell there is a little more restriction. Still on liquids until tomorrow though. When I drink Water, I can tell it takes another second for it to go down so it's better. I'm kinda nervous to have food. I hope I don't get stuck. I haven't gotten stuck or vomitted since I had surgery on 6/17. Any advice?
Dani-G 0 Posted July 28, 2011 Glad it went well. I have my 1st month check up tomorrow and have my first fill scheduled for Monday. I am nervous about the fill. I am able to get down quite a bit of pureed food and I can drink a lot of Water now so I know I do need the fill. Did it hurt?

It's funny how people get fills on all kinds of different dates huh? I don't feel any restriction at all, but like you, I'm on liquids through today. I have 3cc's now in a 10 cc band. I agree with you on the being nervous about trying food tomorrow. I'll be checking to see if anyone gives you advice.

I am still numb from my surgery I think because I still can't feel anything around the port incision. I have already lost 2lbs since tuesday! Exciting! Papillon Princess 13 Posted July 30, 2011 I had my 2nd fill today, it's literally a quick pinch and then it doesn't hurt at all. (I'm a HUGE baby when it comes to needles) but it really isn't that bad. The pureed food will go down quite a bit faster due to the moisture and composition, if your dr allows it, you may want to try moving onto soft foods (moist chicken) and chewing it. This will give it a little more time to sit in the band and slowly go through instead of the pureed which will slide through fairly quick. Glad it went well. carlawhite97 0 Posted July 30, 2011 How often and long do you get fills with lapband.
carlawhite97 0 Posted July 30, 2011 do you get fills forever. And if not, why. Because the fill run out. Right, every month.
Papillon Princess 13 Posted July 31, 2011 Sunshyne, please take some time to read lots on here and try the lapband site also. I see you were banded recently and I wish your dr would have taken the time to educate you on this information. You'll typically get a fill every 4-6 weeks (depending on your dr and weight loss) until you've lost the excess weight. Then you'll go yearly and for any maintenance after that forever. It doesn't mean you'll need fills every time, but to check on progress and how you're doing with your band. Fills do not run out (if they do, there is a problem). Fills may need to be adjusted for various reasons and depending on where you're at in your weight loss. do you get fills forever. And if not, why. Because the fill run out. Right, every month. It has taken me 6 fills to really get the restriction everyone talks about. I am now at 7.5 cc in an 11cc band and it is great. I am due to go back next week but do not feel I need a fill. Be patient and just listen to your band, follow the rules and it will work. Good Luck
