Ready to be unstuck from this weight!!!

Recommended Posts

I have been doing great losing weight up to this last 2 months. I have done it pretty easily without counting calories, Protein or really even exercising. I'm frustrated that I'm within 20 pounds or so of goal and only have lost maybe 5 pounds in the last 2 months, so I'm biting the bullet and finally going to start exercising. I needed to anyway because my thighs are kinda jiggly ;) I thought I couldn't exercise because I was too lazy, but I went to Cheyenne Frontier Days this last weekend to see Jason Aldean, and we probably walked 10miles through the weekend. Plus we sat in the nosebleed section and went up and down about 15 times. I felt so good after the weekend that I decided I'm physically ready to do this. I live a quarter mile from the Scotts Bluff National Monument which is full of great hiking trails. My favorite is the Saddle Rock trail which goes to the top. I haven't hiked the trail for years because it is classified as strenuous. It is 1.6 miles up and 1.6 miles down and the summit is 435 feet high, so it is a leg burner up and a calorie burner down. I'm feeling great doing this and hope it gives other people encouragement to start exercising. Good luck to everyone!!!

Good luck! Starting to track your calories may be good at this point now. I've been 5-10lbs away from my goal and have really cracked down/gotten strict with counting my calories.

Jason Aldean concert - I'm jealous!

Anyways, as far as exercising, I find myself needing motivation too. I have been trying to walk and I feel so much better afterwards, but it's just so hard to make myself do it. Basically, I am lazy when it comes to exercising and I am aware of this. I can be up all day long planting flowers, shopping, etc, but that's different!

Glad to know I'm not the only one that feels this way! I have friends that have lost weight and not exercised a bit and they don't have loose, saggy skin. I'm afraid I won't be that fortunate though!

Good luck on your last 20 pounds and your exercising journey!:)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
