Wheetsin 714 Posted January 30, 2006 Hi desertmom, it's the same difference as I posted to you earlier. Endoscopy is the "technique" for how they see inside you. Upper GI is where they look. An endoscopy is done by running a thin, flexible tube with a camera & light on the end (called an endoscope, which is why any procedure done with this tool, regardless of where it's done at, is referred to as "endoscopy") down your throat, to whever they're needing to see... roughly, the esophogus & duodenum parts of the gastrointestinal system.
