survived weekend away!

Recommended Posts

I went away with my 4 best girlfriends this weekend and survived the food frenzy. Yes, we ate out twice (I had a chicken quesadilla one night and 1 piece of chicken parm (no pasta) the second. There were Snacks, but I was pretty in control and even indulged in 2 drinks. I am thankful I had a fill last Wednesday, but am still surprised at how much I can eat. I brought hard Boiled eggs and cheese sticks for Breakfast and had 1/2 a sandwich each day for lunch. I made it open faced on a sandwich thin. All Condiments and cheese were full fat, etc, but I did OK. There were croissants, muffins and doughnuts all over the place. I succumbed and had 1/2 a doughnut one day. I did some grazing on the snacks, but felt in control most of the time. I exercised Saturday before I left and today when I got home, so only missed yesterday. Does shopping count as exercise? LOL

I guess I could have done better, but was more in control than I have been in a long time. Hoping this is a good start for big things and loss.....

Thanks for listening.

Tracy

Good for you. You need to allow yourself a little indulgence once in a while. And yes.....shopping counts as exercise!

Thanks Cindy!

I wonder if I can "low cal" the drink my friend made: Absolut, Cran-Grape and OJ. Maybe with diet cran-grape and Trop 50? It was over ice and was delish. It was wonderful when it was so hot the other night.

Diet ocean spray only has 5 calories per 8 ounces! I mix it with vodka. Never tried adding OJ. Hmmmmm.......,...may just have to try that!

You did awesome! I call it controlled splurging-you might step outside the boundary but you aren't diving off a cliff, plus you are able to get right back in the groove once the event is over.

This is productive and in-control behavior. Simply thinking about what you are eating and limiting the indulgence is such a new concept and a great feat! I remember days that once I "cheated" I would throw all caution to the wind and that would be the end of the diet.

Now, there is "no end of the diet." Now there are no "I'll start on Mondays." This is it- the real thing, real life, and a new way of life.

Yesterday I had too much Chinese food and didn't feel good the rest of the evening. Instead of saying "I blew my diet." I said to myself "Now what would have been a better way to handle that?" I actually said those words! Then I thought it would have been much better to divide the meal right away and put half inthe refridgerator. I should have had 1 wonton with broth or not ordered the Soup all together. I also thought that I was SO hungry when I came home from work that I probably should have had a snack between lunch and dinner.

So when we take opportunities to attend parties and special events in life it's not about "cheating" on our diets, it's about looking at these events with thoughtful minds.

Congrats on all the good decisions you made!!

That is awesome! I am going on a cruise next week, and am a little nervous about all the food that will be readily available. It is great to hear that people have been so successful when out of their normal routine.

A little insight into low cal cocktails.... My friend introduced me to this and it is awesome! Sounds gross, bur give it a try :). A shot of vodka over ice, Water, a splenda packets, and a generous squirt of lime. It is sooooo tasty--can't even taste the vodka.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
