Well I am approaching 1 yr post surgery and at a standstill for a while now of 45 pounds. I had some recent setbacks and had to have a few unfills. I now have a 14 cc band with approx. 5cc's in it. I am still following all the "rules" seperating liquids and solids, slow fairly small meals, healthier choices, very little snacking and when I do it's fruit, Protein first etc etc. Going to the gym 4 nights a week a mile on the tredmill, 2 miles on the bike and arm weights.. My weight hasn't moved in almost 3 months now... nothing looks or feels any better. I am starting to wonder if I shouldn't try 6 small meals instead of 3. A women at work who was banded in March is doing that and it's just falling off of her

Sounds like your body has gone into survival mode. It's hanging on to every calorie because it's afraid it isn't getting enough. You need to do something to jump start your metabolism. Try upping your calories for a couple days. You should also change your workout routine. Don't do the same thing every day....mix it up.

A bit of tough love here, if you have been working out consistently for over a year you should be doing more then 2 miles on a bike and 1 mile of walking. It sounds that you may need to step it up, challenge yourself more. Are you reaching your target heart rate,? is your combined cardio exercise 30+ minutes a day at your target hear rate not including your warm up and cool down time? It sounds like you are eating right you just need to exercise more.

There is the tough love and now for some advice. Our bodies like to adapt, the rule is that a person should be changing up their exercise routine about once a month. It does not mean you can not go back to doing what you are doing, just have a few different exercise plans and rotate them on a regular basis. Increase your time on the treadmill, increase the speed or increase the incline. On the bike increase the distance, resistance level or time you are on it or do a different program on the bike. Try an elliptical machine. Do not do the bike and treadmill on the same day. Just spend more time on one and alternate the days that you do them, Look into getting a trainer to help develop an exercise plan for you. Interview the trainer, you are paying them, make sure they are going to help you achieve your goals and not theirs. Ask the co worker who is doing great what is there exercise routine? Could you become work out buddies? Be accountable to each other.

The gym was not something I started when I got my band .. the gym is about 2 months now. Only started it when things started to slow down and figured it would be the extra umph I needed to no avail/...

I just broke through a month long stall by increasing my calories a bit (because I am exercising more) and also by eating 5-6 small meals a day. The extra calories, I am getting from fruit and veggies (my Protein levels were always fine).

Good luck!

Id work on building up your exercise, you're doing great for two months but I agree with the above poster - I was runnung between four and six miles a day and doing bootcamp to keep the weight coming off.

I can certainly increase the excersice but running several miles on a treadmill at 280 pounds is just not doable. I see the MD & nutritionsit this friday so will see what they suggest.

Are you monitoring your food and exercise with a program, such as myfitnesspal. I have been using it, and it keeps me honest. and it breaks down my carbs, Proteins and fats. I also agree with what the above people said mix up your exercise and exercise everyday even if its a 30 minute walk! I have a metabolism that works in super slow motion!!! I know how hard it is!!! I am 47 and have abused my body most of my life. If I eat over 1300 calories a week and don't exercise I don't loose!!!!

Good luck!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
