Protein Supplements

I found the best Protein Drinks at a place called weight loss zone here in Amarilo. They had about 20 flavors and most mix with Water not milk. Most flavors only have 1-2grams carbs. Grape, Lemonfrazz, and cinamon hot chocolate are my favorites.

I'm just about done with my two week preop diet regime of two Bariatric Advantage Protein Meal Supplement shakes and one "sensible" meal per day. I don't mind the flavor of the shake; I ususally mix it with crystal light lemonade or add cinammon with the powder. I blend them with ice to make a cool, frothy and filling shake.

Only issue is GI upset since the first day of the shakes. After a week of running to the bathroom, I got some Immodium and things seem to havve slowed down. Anyone else have this experience from the Protein Shakes?

I had that experience but I figured out it isn't necessarily the Protein. It is because if most of your diet is liquid then your waste will be liquid. I would be careful with immodium because once u get to eating and it is high protein then you will probably have Constipation.< /p>

I am 3 days pre surgery (banded plication) and I confirmed last night that if all you put in is liquid all you will get out is liquid HA! My surgeon sells and reccomends Chike brand Protein Shakes. Being a former weight lifter I can tell you that the Chike is a really good tasting Protein Shake. It has 28 grams of Protein when mixed with Water not sure on the carbs.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
