Hello everyone,

My name is Erica, I am new here. I am 25 years old - I was just banded on Monday ( 7-18-11 ) so, I'm on my fourth day and I have to say this liquid diet is KILLING me. I'm always hungry and I'm drinking all the Protein and all the amounts of Fluid I'm supposed to have, I guess it's normal to be hungry, but I'm going crazy !! I never though I'd be so pumped to get to eat mushy/pureed food !! LOL Still a week and a half before I can. *SIGH*

I don't have a large support team so I figured I'd join here and maybe meet some new people.

well, it's nice to meet you all :D

Hi Erica,

I'm new here too .. I'm 29 years old. I was just banded on 7/13 .. so not to far ahead of you. I'm in the same boat as you .. drinking my stuff but still hungry. I'm trying to stay postive and know that it will get better! I also try to tell myself that something bad might happen if I eat some real food ..so I'll just warm some more chicken broth up !

I've lost 20lbs as of today (including what i lost during my pre-op diet) and that is very motivational!!

If you ever need anyone to talk to .. I'm here.

Raquel

Thank you :D I have no real support team, my family is here but they don't really think I made the right choice, they think I should have just kept on a diet. It'd be really great to talk - and same for you :) message me anytime !!

Hey Erica,

Wanted to welcome you and wish you the best of luck! I know exactly how you feel. I was the same way after my band. I've only lost 27 pounds since May 1st but I am still glad that I made the choice. I feel better and have already got to decrease my medication a lot! If you need anything just ask.

Take care,

Alex

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
