mkfearnow 0 Posted July 21, 2011 Just came from what was supposed to be my first fill. Both nurse practitioner and surgeon tried. They thought they were in the port, but weren't getting any saline return. Ended up with at least 10 sticks, multiple multiple re-directs, 4 muscle pokes, and instructions to come back in 4 weeks. Still doing 2 days liquid and 2 days mushies just in case. I am so disappointed. Any other bandsters have similar experiences?
Rachel412 116 Posted July 21, 2011 wait... so after all that all they said was to come back in a month? no x-ray to see if your port flipped?

shadst8 8 Posted July 21, 2011 Yes my first fill was exactly like that, maybe worse. I remember the pain being so bad I could barely walked after he stuck and pressed. Was told the same thing to come back in 4 weeks hoping that more weight loss would help access. The second fill after much poking and prodding--eventually worked. Long story short--port flipped because was in awkward place--revision surgery in January when I switched to a new surgeon, but went months before switch with flipped port and doctor flipping it manually. spoiltmom 44 Posted July 21, 2011 I can't believe they didn't check it out further to make sure your port wasn't flipped. That's crazy.
