I went to curves it was great. The only thing was that you do the 3 times around in the 30 minutes that was great. It worked for the first 3 months then I had to start going around 6 times to keep the inches going. I found out that there is no weight resistance you are the weight resistance. So if you do go after a while you may want to invest in wrist weights and ankle weights.

I don't now but did for about 3 years. The routine is very easy, IMO not strenuous at all, so I would repeat it 3x (90 mins total) 4x weekly so that I'd get longevity in lieu of breaking a sweat.

It's true that at Curves you can't just add more weight, but you can push/pull harder. I would get on the machines & wail. Others would get on the machines & try to do as few reps as possible until the signal to switch came on.

It's a good beginner's workout. I believe that you do get out of it what you put in. It gets you moving, but it doesn't provide a full spectrum of cardio & weight resistance.

I got a free pass to try one out here. For me, I'm already reasonably fit, it was waaaaaaay too easy.

I can imagine it being a great starter workout but you'd definitely need to move onto proper weights and cardio in an ordinary gym after a while to keep seeing results. But a great place to start and a supportive environment for women.

I just started going to Curves. So far I only go 2x a week and twice around the machines. I think this week Im ready to increase to 3x a week and 3 times around.

I also walk on my treadmill on Sunday mornings 20-30 mins

I go to Curves...There are aboaut12-14 machines and boards inbetween to keep moving. 2 times around in 40 min. I am soaked with sweat after that..You need to work the machines hard and correctly...then the second round try to do the same amount of pushes and pulls. So far its working for me.

Wow Robyn - 71 lbs in 6 months - that's awesome! I'm banded 2 weeks and have lost only 9-10 lbs. I'm dissapointed. I want to do Curves but will wait another couple of week. I don't want to risk injury. When did you all start exercise (other than walking)?

Oh, the other thing I should (or rather, "will") mention about Curves is how freaking annoying/gimicky they are. I'm sure someone out there falls for this stuff, but they really just got on my nerves. It started with the obligatory, "So are you ready to stop thinking & start doing?" and never really ended.

"Oh, you lost 9 pounds. That's SOOO great! Ring the bell, grab a bottle of Water and spin it, and then you and the other person get to go up and grab a prize!" "You want me to play spin-the-bottle with sweaty post-menopausal women?" "No, well - yes, no... well, I want you to have fun!" "I don't want to ring the bell." "Oh, come on! Don't you want a prize?" "Not really, I just want to workout so I can go home." "Well, don't you want to win a great prize for someone else?" "I thought this was about me?" "Well we're all ONE BIG COMMUNITY here!"

Uhhh it was murder until they finally learned I wasn't really there for the half-hearted pep rallies and (de)motivational coaching.

I love the work out, it covers all muscle groups and gives you the recommended cardio. No need for weights, its the resistance..the harder you work, the harder it works you. I have worked at at 2 different ones and never had the pep-rally problem. I also like the fact that they are a Christian based organization, thats also important to me.

I just joined a few weeks ago and love it. I go 3-4 times a week and go twice around the 16 machine circuit. I get a great workout and am already seeing results. They don't have the ring the bell get a prize crap at the one I go to, but I saw them doing something similiar like a challenge you could sign up for, but it was all voluntary.

The one downfall I have is along the same lines of the pep rallies - except its not really a pep rally but whoever is working that day will talk to me constantly and I MEAN CONSTANTLY! I HATE IT! I want to close my mind and get into the zone as I concentrate going around the circuit - not make idle chitchat about the crappy weather and what I do for a living and having to hear all about some old ladies daughter who has diabetes and the 2 lbs she lost at Christmas! I don't want to be rude, but I can get better results if I'm left alone. I understand some women prefer to be pepped and talked to, but they need to consider others who don't. I've tried everything possible to be polite but she just wont shut up already! I can't take an IPOD because usually I'm the only one there working out so I wouldn't be able to hear when to change stations. I thought I was going to get lucky the other day when another lady came into workout and the lady who works there started talking to her finally but then the lady who was working out WHO I'VE NEVER MET turns to me and says "Don't you know your supposed to talk and keep me company while I work out?" Again I'm too polite to say whats really on my mind, but I'm going to have to figure out something different. Again I understand maybe the majority of people might like to make friends and talk, but for me its not a gab fest like at the hair salon - I'M THERE TO GET SOME REAL WORK DONE! Sorry - I just needed to let all that out. Love the workout though! :)

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
