Week 1-2 Post Lap Band Surgery

Recommended Posts

So I only had surgery 1.5 wks ago and I am really struggling to consume all the liquids and allowable diet items in one day... Which in short means I'm only consuming between 250-400 calories a day... Anyone else have this problem also?

I had the same thing, but as time and healing went by, I found it to be less and less of a problem. I think you will start to see an increase in your intake, especially when you start on mushies and move on to solids.

I was lucky if I got 500 cal in a day when on liquids. When I loved on to mushies I really started dropping weight.

I would'nt worry so much about the calories. Just make sure to get all your liquids in.

I am 2 weeks out post op, and I am eating mushy food. I don't seem to have any problems eating. I will eat about 1/2 cup mashed potatoes with gravy and don't feel full. Is this normal? I keep thinking that my band slipped and isn't making my stomach smaller. While I was in the hospital they did an xray when I was in recovery. But when I was in my room that night the nurse came in to help me get up, and while she was raising the head of my bed, it suddenly fell and of course, so did I. Could that make my band slip?

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
