jennypenny 6 Posted July 20, 2011 I am drinking all my Water, and then some, and yet my mouth is continually dry. Anyone else experience this, and/or know what it is?
bandedhealthyme 0 Posted July 20, 2011 I am. I had my surgery one week ago today, and even though my dry mouth has somewhat improved a little bit, I still have it. Also, my tongue is white... I believe the stomach is trying to heal from the shock of surgery and there is a slight imbalance of good and bad bacteria thus resulting in yeast which manifests as the white tongue and thicker saliva. The dry mouth sensation comes along with that. I am taking Probiotics every day. My doctor also recommended the Activia yogurt to help reestablish a good bacteria balance in the stomach. The good side is that we need the Water anyway, so drink up! I am drinking all my Water, and then some, and yet my mouth is continually dry. Anyone else experience this, and/or know what it is? Wheelchair 13 Posted July 20, 2011 Are you taking any medications? Dry mouth is a big side effect for a lot of drugs...
BandItOrLoseIt 1 Posted July 20, 2011 I'm almost 1 week post-op, and the same here... my mouth and especially my throat is so horribly dry, I have developed a terrible soar throat.I can't swallow my own saliva without enduring miserable pain! I drink like a duck...Now because my throat is also dry, I get these coughing spells that hurt my incisions like hell! So continues the cycle... At night alone I think I go through a .5L bottle of Water throughout the night. Re white tongue, that's because you haven't had a bowel movement yet (I think). Try some Miralax and that should do the trick...
Hungrybetty 0 Posted July 21, 2011 Also you guys with chronic dry mouth, there is an over the counter product called Biotin. Comes as tooth paste, mouth wash, and gum. As a dental assistant I'm asked about dry mouth alot. My office was sent samples awhile back to try and that stuff is amazing!
Cindy C 150 Posted July 21, 2011 Lemon will help that. Drink lemonade or suck on lemon hard candy. (both s/f of course!)
