Not chewed enough, too much at once, band too tight, and some foods just don't agree with the band. When I got stuck, I'd get a really bad pain throughout my chest and I'd actually get dizzy and see stars. It's not fun and definitely not something you want to experience.

I have been stuck a couple of times and for me it was extremely uncomfortable and not something I want to do...but I never saw stars or got dizzy. I still am happy with my decision to have the band and am pleased with my weight loss.

I don't worry about what they think ! It's not like they sign my check or something.

Some people Drink, Drug. Cheat, ETC.

If I want to help myself,,,, that's up to me !

I'm not bothering anyone. I'm just doing what I think is best for me.

I wouldn't worry about it to much.

Congrats!

Thanks! I'm going for an appointment today and I've decided I'm not going to get one. I'm going to give it another month, and see how I am. I'm probably going to tell the doc, that I'm hungry but Water seems to calm it and I don't want one. He doesn't push fills so he'll be fine with

it. I probably shouldn't have gotten the first one, since I basically feel the same as when I did get the first one, but oh well.

I don't lose super quick, but I'm fine with where I'm at.

I'm glad your surgeon isn't pushy with fills! Mine isn't either, though he did always ask if I was sure when I said I don't want one, haha.

That's what I do when I'm hungry; chug the water! Hunger is normal. It's a sensation everyone feels, and just because you're hungry doesn't mean you have to eat. That's what I've learned. I've been on a fasting diet (14 hours of no food) and I love it. I'm not hungry until 11:00AM. I think it helps greatly with ghrelin levels.

My loss has slowed down insanely as well but I have 5-10 more to go and I don't expect it to come off easily.

My doc has never asked me about a fill. It wasn't til I said I was starting to get hungry 2 months ago did he say it's time. I went today, waited an hour for my appointment (I hate that that is every time when the actual appointment takes 5-10 min.). I'd lost 13# since I'd last been there two months ago. See on the slow side of losing. (I missed a month :(). He was happy with my progress. He said (before I even said anything) he's not going to touch my band. So I didn't say anything. For some reason I always clam up when I'm in there. So we'll see where the next 4 weeks take me.

I am always amazed at the things people will say. A month after my first banding ( I had a slip) someone said to me: Too bad it didn't work, you are bigger than ever. Only b/c she is older did I hold my tongue. I was down 20 lbs. at that point.

I can't believe anyone would rather be fat than deal w/ som stuck food! I remember being terrified at the thought of getting stuck. It hurt like hell the first time it happened to me, but I got through it. I think the pain of the stuck food is nothing compared to getting this extra weight off my body. That girl made a very stupid comment.

Girl I got your back on that one......what the heck you want to be fat as opposed to yacking up a little food....where are your priorities....and do you live in 2011?

it's plain ole eating too fast and not chewing.....you eat the same way for years and years, and you are not going to correct it over night....bottom line!

I think our personal choice to have received a band is our choice. I don't mind if people think I am crazy to have done this. I don't try to talk them into this and honor their own struggles and weight loss attempts. I have a friend who just had a face lift. Some of her other friends are judgmental about this procedure she had done. To each his own. My life, my choice, my band.

Joan

A-MEN sista!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
