blink.gif Well, here I am, guessing that I have already arrived at "Plateau Island". Between pre op, and inital post op phases of diet I quickly lost 19 lbs. Now I am on soft foods, calculate, measure and log everything I eat (900-1000 calories a day), and have not lost any weight in over 2 weeks. My band buddy at work keeps telling me it's because I haven't had a fill yet, but my thinking does not accept that. Fill or not, I am still only eating 900-1000 calories a day. My only hope with a fill would be that I would be more satisfied and less hungry with what I am eating. Any thoughts out there?? I am trying so hard, when you have 60 lbs to lose, you would think some more would come off, even if it was 1 lb a week or something!! This is where I would always stop losing weight with my dieting before the band and I am so scared right now.

Hang in there. Keep doing all the right things and the scale will move. You lost a lot of weight very quickly, your body is adjusting to that. Once your cleared, start excersising. It is a huge piece of the puzzle. My other advice is to watch carbs and fat. Get lots of protien and Fiber in your diet. I usually have eggs for Breakfast, and a lean protien and veggie for lunch and dinner. I snack on nuts (1/4 cup) and lowfat cheese sticks. Hope this helps and good luck.

It happened to me. I had to increase my Water intake to at least 100 oz. per day. For some reason my weight will not budge unless I drink tons of water.

Take your measurements. I found with every plateau I hit along the way that even though the scale was not moving, the tape measure was. Seeing that I was losing inches if not pounds helped keep me on track until the scale caught up. Good luck!

The first six weeks are about healing. It's normal for you to stop losing also changing from liquids to mushies. I lost nothing weeks 2-5 post op. Been losing steadily (relatively) ever since. Also you say you have 60# to lose, don't be discouraged that you'll probably lose slower than someone with 100+ pounds to lose

I am experiencing the same thing! I am 2 weeks post- op. I lost exactly 20 pounds during pre- op diet and the first week post op. The last few days, I haven't lost any and I know I'm doing everything as instructed. I was losing 1-2 lbs per day. Then to suddenly stop is discouraging. I was glad to see your story and know that I am not the only one out there struggling with this. :)

I'm there too! Lost 5 pounds right after surgery, now two weeks later I've put on 2.5 pounds, but I have lost inches! I've lost two inches off my waist, 1.5 in off my bust and another 2 in off my hips. I was majorly bumming until I did measurements. Now, I'm feeling much better. Was feeling like a complete failure.

I am going thru what you are...i eat 900 cal. A day and up to now I lost 24 lbs. 8 weeks post op and I am at a halt exactly, where I have always been in the past. I have not been under 180 in over 13 yrs and of course, I am stuck there. I too need to lose 60 more lbs. But, even though I don't see the scale going down, I feel my clothes falling off or my very tight clothes actually fitting me. I just got my first fill last week and I haven't budged in weight. I think, I was having too few cal. 500 cal now I am back to 900 cal. And hoping to reach one of my mini goals by this week. I am going to try to drink more Water. Lately, even though I have been drinking 64 oz, I have been waking up thirsty. Could be due to the warm weather. Good luck to you and hang in there!

Thanks friends for saying what I really needed to hear!! I have been trying to exercise a bit, never been very good at that part <_<. I have been drinking a lot of Crystal Light, maybe I should drink plain Water more as well. I know I did not get heavy drinking too much Crystal Light in life but it does have calories. I have been looking at my carbs and fat but I will be more conscious of that. I guess I just needed some feedback and you all gave me some great words!! Thanks again!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
