I can't drink cold stuff

Recommended Posts

I had a fill Thursday. Now when I drink cold stuff it makes me really tight. It takes a lot longer to go down, and sometimes it's really uncomfortable.

Any ideas?

Generally, cold makes swelling go down. That's why you ice a swollen ankle. For some reason it's seems to work opposite with lapband. Try drinking something hot until it loosens up!

Drink Water at room temp. Is food going down okay?

Yes, food goes down fine. I do drink room temp but it's hot outside and cold Water is so refreshing. Ugh.

I understand the heat! I live in Texas and it has been in the 100's for a month. I do drink coffee (decaf if you don't want the caffeine) or you could drink tea first then try a cold beverage. I would be miserable without my ice cold water!

I cant either, six years on. Really cold stuff sets off painful cramps for me. I dont eat ice cream either and if I fancy a yogurt, I get it out of the fridge and leave it sit for half an hour to warm up. If I eat canned fruit that's been in the fridge, I nuke it for a few seconds to warm it up a bit. Cold stuff and my lapband do not get along, its something you adjust to. I never liked ice cream much anyhow, so its no big deal to me.

Oh my gosh! Wow. Well, it's good that I'm not the only person with this. But six years later... Well, ok. I handle being skinny drinking lukewarm Water. :-)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
