Monthly (Aunt FLOW) & Tighter Band

Recommended Posts

Hi Ladies!

I am expecting my 1st period since being banded on 6-17 and this has been my PMS week. FUN FUN, LOL!

I have had a feeling of fullness much beyond what I have felt for the previous 3 weeks. Is this a part of monthly bloating? Do you feel different when you are pre-menstrual? Just wondering if this might have something to do with it?

Thanks in advance for your help!

This is really funny because I am having the opposite problem... I'm SO hungry!! This is my first cycle since being banded (6/20) and I have had a pretty easy time making good choices and eating the right portions until this week. I am trying so hard to stay on track! Ugh! :)

My band seems to tighten during TOM for me. I asked the nurse at the surgeon's office if she had heard of it before and she said no.

I am currently having my TOM and I have noticed my band is tighter. Very interesting.

that is interesting - I've been banded for a little over a year. I didn't start experience the band tightening with my TOM until I got to my "green zone" - now when it's that time I can expect to be extremely tight for at half the time it's on...

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
