Banded on 7/12/11, battling headaches everyday, and I don't see how it could be from dehydration. Anyone else going through this. Also cannot burp! I get a feeling in my chest like I'm going to, and then a pain that fades. Please tell me this passes...

Were you a coffee drinker who gave it up? Withdrawals from caffeine can be horrid. The pain from the gas should get better each day. Many use Gas-X strips to help it along. I used a heating pad. Walking can really help that pain, it gets things moving. You don't have to power walk or go for long periods. Just move around your living room as much as you can for a few minutes at a time.

Did you have a hiatal hernia repair at the time of your banding? That can add to your recovery. I hope you feel better soon!!

I got headaches from my change in diet (no caffeine, greatly reduced sugar). And I had to work at burping in the beginning- really stretch out my jaw and esophagus to get the burp out.

I had my band placed 4 days ago. Had to stay in hospital over night. I am moving great but feel scared. I feel like I am having panic attachs. Very weak. Is it normal to feel this scared?

It's understandable to feel scared. You're moving great - so why are you scared? If you are feeling really weak, are you getting in your Protein shakes or whatever your doctor has on his plan? I found that I had a terrible headache right after being banded and felt weak - I drank a small glass of low sugar apple juice and felt much better.

You're doing ok. Your body has been through a lot during surgery - just rest as much as you can - it will help the healing process.

Not afraid, but I'm already taking Zoloft, so that may be why. (I've had panic attacks before, they are no joke) I have had some what the hell was I thinking moments, why does everyone on TV have to eat?

Talking with people, even reading this board, and seeing that some people are experiencing what I am, makes me feel better. Please feel free to reach out to me any time you want to talk.

Deb, are the headaches better at this time. I judt got banded and

I feel afraid. How are you..?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
