Hello! Well, my surgery date is set for August 1st. While I am SUPER EXCITED I am also SUPER NERVOUS. I think because I have a little more than 2 weeks to go, it's all becoming so real. I see the home stretch!!! I had my final meeting with my nutritionist today and she said I only need to do the liquid diet for 4 days. Really she said I didn't even need to do it as I am on the lower bmi scale but she wants me to get used to the way things are going to be post op. I have been purchasing products for a while now, I ordered a pill crusher, a shake weight (SHOOOSH, DON'T JUDGE ME! LOL) and yes, it DOES in fact work. My last purchase was the Kitchen Ninja 1100. I CAN'T wait to try that thing out!! So, who else out here is going to be joining me on "The Losers Bench" in August?? To those of you waiting for surgery, what are your thoughts and concerns????? I would really like to know if I am the only one freaking out a lil.

WOW! we have the same date! Aug 1st. I too am excited and nervous. I'm all done with my pre op work except for slleep disorder this Wed night.

My date was pushed back a week due to a skin infection which is taking long to disappear... I"m almost scared to say it but I may have to push it back again.

I've been getting boils yuck! Anyone else have to change date? Well I'm clapping and cheering for you looking forward to walking this road so close to your road...

I spoke with my mom yesterday afternoon over lunch. I explained to her that I was having the surgery and she was very taken aback. She does not believe I need it but said she will support me on my journey. I'm happy for that. The only problem I have is that my mom chooses to focus on the negative aspect of things. I don't think she knows it when does but it just natural for her. She said things like "you're not gonna like the fact that you are gonna have to drink liquids" or "You're gonna be mad when your husband and your friends all go out to eat and you can't". I am glad I told her but this confirms my thoughts.......that I will have to distance myself from her until I become stable : mentally and physically.

I also bought a Ninja today. I've been wanting one for the longest. It works really well. I didn't like my Protein shake so i'm researching Protein juices and non flavored powders to put into my food. Any thoughts or ideas?

I am scheduled for August 8th!! I am not so much nervous but I am VERY ANXIOUS to start my new life. I have ALWAYS been the fat girl and the heaviest in the family all of my cousins are stick thin and model. I have wanted that life for SO long and now in 23 days I can start my journey towards that life!! My family is all 20000%% supportive of me.....They have asked questions and are ready to help me through the whole process!! Also as far as protien drinks are concerned I had a HELL of a time trying to find one that didn't make me want to throw up while drinking it. But I did find Muscle Milk Light and it is SO good they have a variety of flavors I buy on Amazon.com it is much cheaper than a health store. =)

My surgery is the first of August also, The nerves haven't kicked in , just totally excited, I looked into this for a full year before I committed. Now I am ready to start my new life, I know this is a ways down the line but I cant wait till I can shop in the normal stores for clothing instead of "specialty stores"...I have my eyes on the prize, but that is just my way of thinking of this. Everyone goes thru a wave of emotions when it comes to change, we as humans don't like change

My surgery date is set for August 2nd! I am so anxious! Ihave my Pre-op this Tuesday, and my nutrition appointment on Friday! I was outwith my sister today looking at all the different Protein shakes, but stillwaiting to talk to the Drs to see what they recommend. I am still in theprocess though of getting my insurance approval. This has all come SO fast forme, so I almost think it is too good to be true! I started this process in May,and the office says they are very confident that insurance will be approved anyday as to why they scheduled my pre op already! I received a call from the surgeon’soffice on Thursday saying I needed a clearances letter from my primaryphysician who is the one who recommended me for surgery, but of course he isout of the office all week! Going to try to call again first thing Monday toremind them to send over that letter because I REALLY want to get this donethis summer while I’m out of school and can afford to take some time off! Fingerscrossed! And good luck to all those getting banded in august!

I'm tentatively scheduled for Agust 11th. I say tenatively cause I'm on my surgeon's calendar for the 11th and my insurance approved me for the date, but I still have a sleep study and there is an issue with my liver that has to be checked out. I am full of emotions. Happy, excited, anxious, scared. I've started a blog to keep track of it all and help me get through the emotional part. It will also provide my family with access to my journey. They are all a million times behind me on this.

Hello! my surgery date is set for August 30th. I am excited yet nervous just like most of you here. I have been battleing my weight for the past 16 years. I would loose weight then just gain it back and then some. I am currently at my most heavyest weight and find it difficult to do activities. I am looking forward to not tiring so quickly and being able to be active again. I can't wait to be able to shop in the regular sizes again. I want my self confidence back and to be able to stop taking all the medications that I am currently taking not to mention that blooming CPAP machine! I am looking into different types of protine shakes (thanks for those of you who posted what they thought about the different types. It is proving to be very helpful.)

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
