Broken Scale

Recommended Posts

I have been in Bander's Hell pretty much since my surgery. The scale hasn't moved much since my 1 week post surgery weight in that first week in June.

My scale broke 2 weeks ago and I needed a new one. I delayed the purchase, but finally bought one last week. It sat in the darn box for 5 days!

I didn't feel like I lost anything and actually thought I may have gained. Yesterday I decided to face my worries and hopped on the scaled to see a 2-3 pound weight loss!! Today I got on and it was 2 more pounds! So I didn't gain at all in fact I lost weight!

Wow! 9 weeks (inlcuding my 1 week liquid) and down 23 pounds! That averages to 2.5 pounds per week even though there has been many weeks I haven't lost at all. I haven't seen these numbers on a scale in such a long time!

I am thinking about joining Bally's Fitness to get a work out routine in place. Now I feel motivated-even though I hate the thought of working out.

That's great njgirl. The hardest part of going to the gym is putting on the clothes and getting in the car. Once there the work out feels awesome...its just getting the motivation to go!

Thanks guys!

Cindy-that's why I was thinking about joining someplace that's on my way home from work. I know once I get home the chances of me wanting to go out again aren't too good.

Averaging my weight loss like that put things in perspective for me. I've been feeling like a slow loser. I subtracted my pre op diet weight loss and averaged my weight loss since surgery. I'm averaging 1.5# per week. Which made me feel ecstatic! Like you have had weeks where I lost nothing and weeks 2-5 post op I also lost nothing, but it all evens out in the end.

Jess- I know!! I had about 4 weeks with no loss-but you really do need to count the weeks and divide the pounds lost. Lapband really is suppose to be 1-2 pounds per week (that's what my doctor told me). If you are staying in that 1-2 pounds per week range you are right on track. Once the fills start to kick in it will help us along!

Yay! That's great! I'm the same about the exercise, but for me the lack of motivation is because the weather has been 100+ for the 2-3wks and I hate being out in it. I'm going to have to break out the Dance Central or something.

Anyways, keep up the good work!

You have to start exercising. The hardest part of going to the gym is just getting in the door. Start out light but just make it a routine. Get in there and just keep at it. You only have one life and you have already made a huge step for better health. Adding some exercise is just going to keep you going even further in your weight loss journey.

I am in Texas and I am a member of Bally's and go straight from work, but at this point I am doing 2-3 nights of Water aerobics. Good luck and congrats!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
