I was banded on July 6th. I have been weighing myself daily since June 22, which was the first day of my pre-op liquid diet. Everyday I was seeing a loss, and today there was a .8lb gain. I know that it is probably me just retaining Water, I hadn't gone to the bathroom, etc. But I was surprised at how disappointed I felt. I realize that I should not be weighing myself daily because it's messing with my head.

How often do you guys weigh yourself? Daily? Bi-weekly? Weekly? Monthly? Only at doctor visits?

Hello...I wa banded on June 20th and I find myself weighing myself everyday. I only "count" the weight on Saturday though towards if I am losing or gaining weight because I know there are various reasons for 0.5 - 1 lbs. I hope that helps!

I weight myself every 3 or 4 days. But like you...in the early stages right after surgery there were losses and then some gains. The first 6 weeks are really for healing and small ups and downs are expected. Just be patient (easier said than done) the whole process of healing and losing takes time!

My scale broke 2 weeks ago. I delayed in buying a new one because I felt like I wasn't sticking to parts of my diet as I really should have, although I still have made some good choices. I thought for sure I gained. Today I finally got up the nerve and stepped onto it to see I not only didn't gain , I lost 2 pounds!! All that worrying for nothing! I don't like to get weighed every day. Maybe 3 times a week always in the morning.

this post could have come from me - except the gain was a .2 instead of a .8. I was banded 7/5 - been weighing every day and seeing a loss every day - even if the loss is only a .4 or .2. Then today i gained a .2 after doing everything by the book - i was so disappointed. But, this afternoon I got my period and now i know why the .2 gain. In fact, it should have been more than a .2 gain given past experience with the time of month gain - so that tells me that i actually "lost" again. Everyone says not to weigh every day - but i know me - i will anyway.:P

did you just move from liquids to mushies/soft foods? if so that can account for a gain too according to many posters. In any event - there are going to be gains and losses if we weigh daily - it's the price we pay - instant gratification or disappointment instead of having to wait a week for the weight.

The first 6 weeks are about healing. It is normal to gain when you switch from liquids to mushies, pureés, whatever.

I weigh daily, usually many times. It's a sickness...lol. However, I have a weigh in day on Thursday. This is the only day I write the number down or change my ticker. You have daily fluctuations, you weigh more in the evening. It can drive you crazy if you let it.

I was banded June 20 and had to banish the bathroom scale....the first few days post-op I was weighing myself more than twice a day and was going insane!!! I would gain a little here, lose a little there, gain a lot more there, etc.

Finally instituted "WEIGH IN WEDNESDAY"....I ONLY weigh on Wednesday morning, right after I wake up and go to the restroom, before I shower or get my morning Water.

Consistency is key!! Weigh yourself once a week or once every 2 weeks, and with the same consistencies...what you're wearing, time of day, etc. Or just wait and weigh at the doctor's office, but if it's going to be a while before you go back, that might not be the best option.

I go for my first post-op visit on Monday and am anxious to see what their scale says...as much as I'd like to lose more right now, I know that since I have no Fluid in my band, that may not happen until I have 1 or more fills.

Hang in there!! Do not stress over gain or loss right now...focus on healing or you will drive yourself crazy!!

I weigh daily but I only ever count the downs, not the ups. I know our bodies fluctuate wildly from day to day so I don't stress if I'm up 1-2 pounds from the day before.

I have BANISHED my scale - I have decided I was driving myself nuts and now weigh when I go to the doc (right now he wants to see me every 2 weeks at least for the next 2 months ) to see if I need a fill or not -- afte the 2 months I quess I will have to bring out the scale at home again :P

I weigh daily but I'm learning to not let the scale get me down when it doesn't say what I want it to say. Im training for a triathlon, eating clean and healthy. There's nothing more I can do.

What I do know is that people who eat healthy and exercise hard are not generally overweight so if I keep doing the right thing then I will get there too. Consistency is the key regardless of what the scale says.

I weigh myself everyday...some days more than once...but the only one that counts is first thing Tuesday mornings. My first appt, surgery and TT were all on Tuesdays so it seemed appropriate that I choose Tuesday's weight for the week.

I was banded on July 5th and had the EXACT same thing happen yesterday!!! When I weighed today I was back to where I was the day before last.

I'm only weighing daily for the first two weeks to get me through this liquid diet! Then it's back to weeklies!

I weighed in once a week while I was loosing, and recorded it. I felt like the daily flucuations would drive me crazy. Now that I am maintaining, I weigh myself every day. If I gain 3 pounds or so, I need to make a correction in what I am doing. So far it's been working.

I weigh myself daily. I know that goes against what the experts say to do.... but

My mantra is.... Not weighing myself daily obviously didnt do much for me..... so far, weighing myself daily for the past 7 months has been a life changer!

I agree with what you said at the end about obviously NOT weighing daily was not working. I find that whenever in the past that i've been being "good" or dieting I would weigh every day. whenever i went through "i don't care" periods - weeks and months at a time - when i didn't diet or exercise - i didn't weigh because i didn't want to know and i was afraid to. Weighing daily - as frustrating as it can be - keeps me in line. It just does. So we all have to remember -do what's best for YOU because you're the one that has to live with this and you will answer to you for your success or failures. BEST OF LUCK!!!;)

        Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

        Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
