Short Waisted

Recommended Posts

I am wondering if anyone else out there shares the same problem I have? I am pretty darn short waisted and two of my incisions are right at my waistband. I know one was just an access point for the doc's instrument, but one of the sites is my port. Anyone experience this? What kind of problems if any have you had w/your port site because of the constant rubbing and pressure?

Ouch! My port is right at my waist. And I'm short waisted. The incisions aren't a problem...they are in a small arch across my stomach. Even the port incision is above my waist band. But the actual port gets squished if I sit just so and it's a bit aggravating at times. On the other hand, I like my port and it's location, I guess just because it's MY port. So I tolerate it.

Many of the pants are low waisted these days, and that's helpful, but anything is in the way. Oh well.

I'm short waisted. The first year it was pretty hard for me to wear jeans with a very tight waist-band. Even today, 2.5 yrs out, if I sit bent for too long or wear too tight waist, I'll still get sore on occasion. Some exercise also tends to make me tender, but good news.. you're port migrates as you lose weight, so things do get better..

I am short waisted too. My port site is just above my waist. Sometimes I worry that if I bend over, the waist band of my jeans will push on my port and flip it. My doctor says that this is very unlikey to happen.

I am only about 3 1/2 weeks post surgery and my port site is still a little tender but it feels sooooo much better than that first week or two after surgery!

I'm long waisted -but if I poke around in my belly button I can feel my port. It's pretty low. I don't worry about it though because I am probably never going to wear a bare midriff!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
