Hi all, I am 16 days post op and I have been following my surgeons instructions to a T. I just feel like I stop eating when my measured serving is gone and don't usually feel full. Even after waiting several min I still don't get the "full" feeling and feel I could be doing what I'm doing without having the band. I have my first adjustment scheduled this Sat and wonder is that what I'm lacking? I find that once I'm done eating I don't get hungry for several hours but once I eat again still not full. I'm feeling frustrated already and am so new to this. Please advise. Thanks

Hiya! The feeling you need to look for isn't "full", it's "not hungry anymore". The feeling you're probably used to as "full" back before you were banded was really over-full. It's a little tricky to learn to recognize that "not hungry" feeling, and it's even harder to listen to it and walk away from food, which is why generally we're told to measure out our food and stop eating when it's gone.

You need to redefine full. I'm not sure it's possible to feel "full" any more. What you will feel is not Hungary any more.

So, an adjustment won't make a difference?

An adjustment might help you feel full sooner if you over-eat, yes. But you shouldn't be relying on the feeling of being full to control your eating. There's a link in my sig about the myth of restriction with the band that might help you.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
