Kimiky 5 Posted July 14, 2011 I am one week post op today and I was sitting here reading post and my foot started cramping. It moved up my shin and my calf, then my other foot. I have been in HORRIBLE pain for the last hour.. its starting to calm down now but what can I do to make it go away and prevent them in the future? I am pretty sure I am hydrated, I was able to get in 64 ounces so far and still drinking. Been on Clear liquids all week and Im sure the rest of my nutritional requirements are out the window. Cant eat a banana, what do yall suggest?!?! Any one else have this problem? I never get these and never want to get them again! Kim
jurhee19 2 Posted July 14, 2011 It might be your potassium or your B1 could be low. I was having bad leg cramps. I would only get them in the middle of the night and get woke up by them. I had my doctor order laps for me. That's when I found that my B1 is low. I would suggest calling your doctor and seeing if he can't order some laps for you. Hope you find out what is causing them soon. I know they hurt like crazy. 1 AmyTexan reacted to this
jen120 23 Posted July 14, 2011 Sounds like low potassium to me...but I'm not a doctor. Do you have a chewable Multivitamin you can take?
LapNYC 3 Posted July 14, 2011 I've had that off and on since I've been banded. Whenever I've been less restricted and have eaten more, the cramps go away. They also inexplicably go away for weeks at a time, but they always come back and torment my sleep! I try and eat bananas, take a multivitamin and drink boatloads of Water. I'd put my money on the hydration, although I've never taken the time to really look for patterns. God luck. I feel your pain! I posted something similar about a year ago. Flashback! Melissannde 41 Posted July 14, 2011 Powerade Zero would probably be considered a clear liquid (call and ask your doc), has no calories and has potassium in it. If you can handle the calories.. try Gatorade or even Pedialyte. Just make sure you check with your doctor FIRST since you are so early post-op. Hope you feel better soon.
