I had outpatient surgery on July 7. I have never had surgery before and I live alone so it is a bit challenging. The first few days on liquids were ok (except one bad night of dry heaving) but now I feel what seem to be hunger pains. Could it be?

You might be. You should check with your Doctor's office and follow their guidelines.

Yes, it's probably hunger. I was banded on 5-27-11 (with two small fills since then) and I've been hungry since the second day post-op!

Probably a little I had some soupy cream of wheat and a few spoonfuls and I was full...it helped just to get a little substance in there

I had surgery the same day as you did and I thought I felt hunger pains yesterday. I ate a sugar free popsicle and drank some Water and was all good. Dont forget the doctor say that when your thirsty you can also feel hungry so drink first!

This of course is just based on my opinion since I have no more expirence than you :)

I'm hungry... started mushies 3 days early because I COULD NOT TAKE IT ANYMORE... Still only getting around 600 calories a day.

Yeah, around my 4th day post op I was so hungry I couldn't stand it. I started mushies early also, although I am not recommending that. I didn't have any trouble, but you should always follow your dr's recommendations. My friend who has had the band for over a year says its common to get hungry while you are still on liquids...it eases up a lot once you start mushies. From my own experience I have to second that.. Drink as much as possible though and drink your Protein Shakes and that helps a lot.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
