gentlespirit 1 Posted January 28, 2006 I was banded on 1/24 and am doing pretty well, I think, but I have a couple of questions: 1. When do these horrible gurgling noises stop? It's embarrassing...people can hear it clear across the room!! 2. Did you notice more gas pain when you drank warm liquids? I have tried both broth and sugar-free hot chocolate made with skim milk and both times it seemed like I had more pressure and discomfort than when I drank cold or room temperature things. 3. I asked the nurse about using Gas X for gas pain as I was leaving the hospital, and she sounded horrified and said oh, no, don't use that! Any idea why? I'd bought some before going in for surgery because so many of you recommended it. Guess I'll have to ask the surgeon when I go in for my one-week checkup. Thanks for any suggestions/comments! It's really comforting to know that whatever we new ones face, someone here has probably had the same thing to deal with!! Emily
Betje 0 Posted January 28, 2006 Hey welcome to bandedland, I was banded in November, every two hours i was drinking a little juice or Soup or melk. But if you drink only Water between the two hours you will hear that horrible noises. About tha Gas X i dont know about it. Here in Aruba they give me a pill name Gastro plas. Anyway take care. youknowit 11 Posted January 28, 2006 Well, I can't tell you why you're having trouble with warm liquids, never had that experience. BUT, in my opinions, GasX (the chewable, or liquid gels) was a LIFE saver for me. Never needed it since the first week, just trying to get that icky stuff out of my body. Not sure why they'd say that... Best of luck, and congrats on your band.
Kim_8 2 Posted January 28, 2006 Gurgling is still going on with me - although I haven't identified what makes it loud vs. not so loud yet. GAS X is my *best* friend. Doc didn't say not to, so I have been taking it. Let us know if you find out why they said not to take it!
