winifred76 1 Posted July 11, 2011 Ok, I'm looking at having this done in early september. The problem is I dont' have a lot of vacation/sick time available. I initially was thinking I could be back to work by day 7. My surgeon is talking lap band and gastric plication. But he also says 90% of the time he also has to repair a hernia. Could I realistically be back at work at day 7 with all that? Thanks for your comments.
Jess55 97 Posted July 11, 2011 It depends on you, I was back on day 7 and I have a physical job. On my feet 10 hours or more, bending, kneeling. I'm an LVT. I had minimal pain though, only lasted like 2 days. So it depends on your pain tolerance. Oh and yes I had a hiatal hernia repair as well.

broomt 1 Posted July 11, 2011 I was banded on Thursday June 30 and was back to work Tuesday July 5. I was still a little sore but nothing serious. If you have to lift you might want to check with your doctor and see what they have to say. I am still under restriction not to lift anything over 20 pounds. Kay Adams 0 Posted July 11, 2011 What is gastric plication?
AlienBandit 10 Posted July 12, 2011 I am a teacher and didn't take any time off work. Surgery was on a Saturday and went back to work on Monday. My students helped with any heavy lifting or moving of books etc and I was a little slow but the more i moved the faster I recovered
winifred76 1 Posted July 12, 2011 What is gastric plication? It is a relatively new procedure where they fold over the stomach and put stiches in similar to a gastric sleeve. However they remove none of the stomach. The folding over is supposed to accomplish the same thing and supposedly helps with the restriction even before you start filling the band
