is lap band a slow weight loss compared to cleeve?

Recommended Posts

I recently read in 1 forum that lap band is a slow and steady weight loss as compared to sleeve...is it so...

some of us take long to start off..while others have amazing weight loss from the first month...

age and exercise, metabolic rate and food habits of course must be playing a major part in this.

I am trying my best but my weight is not moving in the last 2 months...this is my fourth month.....

does anyone have a similar story....

I had a friend who i meet through my docs office who got the sleeve the same day as i got the band we were in waiting room together and recovery room together and in the same room afterwards... we were about 20 lbs diffrence before surgery she has hit her 100 lbs loss at 6 months and i did not.... my doc says the band is a much slower rate then the sleeve. i was too scared of the sleeve at the time but with all of the stuck food and sliming I would have the sleeve done if I had the chance.

I am very happy with what I have lost so far but its a lot harder then the sleeve ;)

good luck !!!

Amy

Weight loss is about what you put into it. If you really watch what you eat and work out regularly you'll lose weight faster than if you eat whatever you want (just smaller quantities) and don't work out at all.

While sleeve loss is known to be faster initially, excess skin and malnutrition are also more common with the sleeve and gastric bypass.

You didn't gain the weight overnight, you won't lose it overnight. Aim for 1-2 lbs per week or better yet around 5 lbs a month. It doesn't sound like much but it adds up quickly and gives you time to adjust to the weight loss and if you work out (weights and such - not cardio) during this time you can build muscle to fill out the skin where the fat is being lost so your excess skin will be minimal.

Thanks for this post. I don't know about OP but it gave me food for thought.

Very helpful.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
