Where do you buy papaya extract?

Recommended Posts

I had a bad experience last PM. I believe I was probably stuck but it didn't feel like it usually does when I am stuck. I had shooting/stabbing pains in my stomach from 5-10PM. At 10PM I chewed 2 pepto tabs, had a sip of Water and vomited . After I vomited the pains were gone. I wonder if I'd been stuck since lunch which was the last time I ate but it wasn't a problem until several hours later? I have had a similar experience once before.

I'd like to buy some of the papaya extract or enzyme? to take should this happen again.

Do you use a powder or tablet form?

Thanks for your help, Joan

GNC has it also- definitely pick some up. I guess there's all kinds of stuck feelings. For me it really felt like a large rock was stuck about 10 inches from my throat-the most horrible pain ever-if it lasted any longer I would need to seek medical help-yes it was that bad!

Amazon ;) Got the tablets, you let them disolve in your mouth.

Did you use the papaya to help dislodge it? My usual stuck feeling is pain and pressure and it will either slip down or I felt the need to vomit and it comes up. The stabbing pain the other night makes me wonder if it was a small piece of food stuck where the pouch empties?

What exactly do these pills do and how do they help you? Do you take them just when you are stuck or daily?

People use it when they feel stuck, not daily. It is said to help dissolve stuck food.< /p>

Thanks everyone for your feedback!!

Joan

When I get stuck if I don't throw up on my own I take the chewable Papaya tablets and they usually make me throw up and I feel so much better.

I bought mine at Walgreens. They're chewable and the bottle was less than $5. Haven't had to use them yet... but I wanted to have them on hand in case.

I bought my papaya enzyme from the Vitamin shoppe. I have 2 bottles,

They are chewable and they taste good to me. When I get stuck which I try to avoid at all costs blink.gif I chew a few of them and after a few minutes the stuck food seems to dissolve. Their called enzymes so in my mind they kinda eat away at the stuck food until it goes down.

I had a bbq a few weeks ago and I got stuck on the 1 rib I tried to eat. It was horrible. I felt a stabbing pain in my back. I walked around. I did the chicken dance, held my arms above my head and nothing helped. I hate to throw up but I was desperate to throw up that day and nothing happened so I chewed about 8-10 papaya enzymes and after a bit I felt much better.

I think their a good thing for a bander to have in their arsenal along with Gas-X and Pepcid .

Well, their not chemical drugs or medicine .

They are a natural enzyme from fruit. So it's not like I'm chewing 8-10 Tylenols . If 4 would have helped me I would have stopped there.

We all have to do what works best for us. I wish you well.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
