I was banded 7/5 and no problems so far, just a slight sore throat immediately after the surgery. I cannot take coedine, I got liquid percoset, which tasted awful but worked well, I only took it the first 36 hours, really didn't need it after that. I have followed my pre-op diet exactly as directed and lost 12 lbs. I have also followed my post op diet and feel great. Quick tip: Partially freeze your protien shake, tastes like ice cream! I am looking forward to my first Dr's visit and mushy food. I have measured 2 oz of blended melon and put it in my freezer, when I can eat it I plan on mixing it with unsweetened apple juice for a healthy snack. I read on-line that we should think of our stomach as a sink, if you fill it too quickly it will overfill. Trying to get in 40-50oz of liquids is not easy, I have learned to take many small sips of liquids. Had a little gas, but walking helps. Went to a craft fair yesterday & did a small amount of yard work today. Lost 40 lbs since April, hit 200 today, can't wait to join the 100+ club!

HI - I was banded 7/5 also. I'm glad gas hasn't bothered you too much - mine has been awful - and i've been moving around a ton. I cleaned the whole house today for example. Also, to my surprise I still have no appetite which is great since I'm on day 5 of solid liquids. Am sipping a Protein Shake right now for lunch - but only because I have to or I'll never get my Protein in. Been doing better on Water but still am not up to my 80 ounces a day pre-op. Down 19 pounds since last surgeon visit before banding on June 7. Did a 14 day pre-op diet with no cheating and I have not cheated at all on the post-op. It has been hard but only due to head hunger. Best of luck and congrats on hitting onderland soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
