Looking for a great surgeon in the greater Charlotte, NC area.. Any suggestions?

Recommended Posts

I have successfully told my family about the journey I am now ready to embark on, and I have received their total support! That is truly a blessing! Now I am on my search for a good surgeon. I have been googling my little eyes out, but I'd like to go with a dr. I know someone's had an amazing experience with as opposed to someone I've just "innee, mennee, minnee, moe'd" from a phone book or online. Anyone got any suggestions? I'd really appreciate them! Thanks in advance!

I am from Charlotte and i go to Southeast Bariatrics on Randolph, sometimes the office gets crazy, but they are very thorough, I do not have any issues. Dr. Vollinger is my surgeron, i had surgery on 1/20 and have lost 3 pant sizes and about 43 lbs.

Obviously I'm still looking for a surgeon..but will they be the ones to set up the seminar once I settle into one? Or is that something I'll have to find on my own?

Usually the seminar is hosted by the surgeons office, but most are free, so I guess it is where ever you comfortable. Southeast Bariatrics is a little disorganized, but they give good after care.

Dr. Ryan Heider at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center and his staff are outstanding ... the best in my opinion. Check out The Center for Surgical Weight Loss at LNRMC. Several monthly information seminars are offered.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
