Dermabond over incisions.

Recommended Posts

I was just banded on Thursday and I feel great, but was wondering if anyone has else has had the dermabond over the incisions. I am showering, but want to know how long it took for the incisions to heal fully for you. I feel like I should know this as I am a nurse, but have not dealt with the dermabond in my area of work. Thanks!

I had dermabond on my incisions as well it was great no oozing or any messes coming from the incisions :) mine were never covered by badages and they were totally healed and the glue finally came off completely about 10-14 days

They are healing great I was just concerned about accidentally washing it off. Thanks for replying!

The dermabond on two of my bigger incisions never came off and I am 23 days post op. They are healed for the most part. I finally got a rag and scrubbed the dermabond off this morning. My other 3 incisions healed really quickly and the dermabond was off in a couple of weeks or so.

I'm 13 days out. All the incisions are practically invisible except the port which is still healing. I was cleared for swimming at one week so the dermabond is all gone! greensmilies-026.gif

I had dermabond as well. The shower will help the dermabond come off... which it's supposed to do. Mine was coming off on day 3 and I was freaking out! I called my doc and he said its completely normal. It was fully off at probably 8 or 9 days post op, and just the scabs were remaining. Its okay to shower normally & regularly.

Dermabnod is tough. Mine started peeling off the incisions at like 14 days or so. I had to literally scrape the glue surrounding my incisions off with my fingernail after like 3 weeks. My imcisions healed pretty well. One got a slight superficial infection, but a couple days of TAB and a band aid cleared it up. Though it's weird when I use my abs doing pushups and stuff that one gives a dull twinge every so often

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
