Are you writing down everything you eat? I am surprised sometimes as to the amount of calories I eat. When I see it on paper it helps me get things in hand. Are you eating the right things. I have to cut my carbs very low and up my Protein to lose weight. And finally, do you exercise? I have to walk an hour EVERYDAY to lose. I have the metabolism of a snail. If I don't exercise I don't lose.

My Doc set a goal of 5 pounds a month for me. I wish I could lose more but I think considering my metabolism, it's probably the right number.

I've also heard that it's not good to weigh every day but I admit that I do.

And do you drink enough Fluid? I think that helps too.

Good luck and hang in there.

I agree, trying writing down every single bite you eat for 2 weeks and see what happens. SChedule an appointment with your doc and your NUT and go over the food log. If you are not excersising pland for it 3 times a week to start (go swimming, walk the mall, a picnic lunch in the park with a walk, go up and down stairs a few times-whatever it takes.

My metablism is VERY slow also!! EXercise is the only thing that can take it up a notch.

So make some appointments with the professionals. Good uck to you!!

I agree also. You HAVE to write down everything you eat. It keeps you aware of what and how much your actually eating. Also drink Water only. 8-10 glasses a day.

I've done all of that. I've been consistently working out three times a week since March. I use the Lose It! app on my phone to track my food intake. I can't say I'm perfect all of the time but 4 -5 days a week, I stay within my range. I have lost a lot of inches, but my body is so slow in releasing the pounds. It's quite frustrating at times.

When my Nurse Practitioner and I spoke last month, I realized that I have averaged 5 pounds a month (for the first five months) but that doesn't hold true now. I'm in my sixth month and I haven't lost anything yet. I'm going to get a fill next week. I'm rarely satisfied after meals (they're measured out) and my hunger returns too quickly. Finally after my fill last month I can feel restriction. But I still need help.

It's exciting to give away clothes and have to go buy new ones. So I know the surgery is working and everyone is affected differently. Good luck to you, too!

One thing with weight loss, your calorie deficit of yesterday does not always equate a loss today. My weight went down in fits and starts. The body seems to want to hold on as much as possible, then will let it go all at once. I'd stay the same for 3 or 4 weeks then drop 4 pounds. I'd go up 1 then down 2, stay the same for 2 weeks then drop 1. It was not steady at all.

But over the course of time, the trend was DOWN. That's all that mattered in the long run. Try to only get on the scale once a week. This is really about long-term life style habits. Get used to eating proper portions, the weight loss and better health will come.

so I need to increase on both fronts.I do exercise daily for 40 mins....but otherwise my life is very sedentary....my movements are slowdue to arthritis.

I willincrease my calorieand protein content and yes willwrite it down daily.....I tried only 3 meals...but my body is

used to 3meals and2 Snacks since years...so maybe that is causing weight gain...

Thanks all of you!!

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
