I am 1 month post-op and was wondering if some people still get a slight pain in shoulder? I never had this pain before surgery and thought the gas pain in the shoulder would be gone by now. I have heard some people mention that this happens sometimes if they eat too much but this happens regardless if I ate or not. Just wondering if this is fairly common.

I'm also one month post op, yay! I have heard that some people have the shoulder pain for a long time. I'm not entirely sure why, someone else will probably have better advice for you than I do, but I have heard that there are some that do have it.

I agree with Rozie I am also 1 month post op - I have heard some have shoulder discomfort for awhile - sorry your still hurting - My only suggestion is GAS X and walking - heating pad and Heating Pad

I am 5 weeks post op and I still get the shoulder pain. Odd thing is it didn't start until 2 weeks post op. Now I get it if I eat one bite too many or something that makes me gassy. Nothing gets rid of it...nothing. Not Gas X, not walking, heating pad... nothing. I just have to wait it out for it to disappear. I am slowly getting used to what to eat and what not to eat. It is learning how to read the signs my body gives. I wish you all the best in your journeys!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
