I can't decide if I should go for another fill or not. To be honest, I totally despise getting a fill. The process itself isn't that bad. I just hate the liquid diet that follows.

Anyways, I've lost 114 lbs since being banded the end of November. I've only had two fills total and am unsure of the size of my band. If I'm not mistaken, I've had a total of about 1.5-2 cc. between both fills.

Lately, I've found myself consuming more food in a meal. I'm a teacher and have not been on a good eating schedule this summer. I've only been getting two actual meals in during a days time since school has been out. Also, I've been enjoying ice-cream like it is nobody's business! I think I've let it become my third meal of the day!!

With all of that said, I am still losing weight. I weigh myself once a week. Last week, I lost 3 lbs. So, should I go for the fill or not? If I don't have one this Friday, it will be the end of July before I have another opportunity.

If you're losing, why risk messing with a good thing? I say no to the fill-- besides, you've already identified some of the issues you're having and a fill won't make you leave the ice cream alone :)

I wouldn't necessarily have a fill, but I'd seriously consider going in just to talk about how you're doing. The nurse/doctor (whoever you see) may have some advice to help you with your current eating issues.

Your call.

You don't say how much your eating or how long it is keeping you satisfied. If your eating say 4oz protien and a cup or so of veggies and feeling full for 4 hours or so, I say no fill. If you are experiencing a lot of hunger and/or able to eat a fairly large amount I would go in for a fill. Hope this helps! Oh and lay of the icecream lol!

You all are too funny! For supper tonight, I had 4 ounces of chili that I made with ground turkey. Within an hour of eating, I was in the kitchen grazing for something else. The same thing happened at Breakfast. I had 1/4 cup of Egg Beaters with two turkey sausage links and a bit of 2% shredded cheese. Within an hour, I was hungry again.

I do know that my eating habits have involved a lot of snacking, which is something that I wasn't doing a month ago. That is why I can't decide if it is a fill that I need or a better eating schedule. By the way, lunch was ice-cream!:P

Now that you give the amounts you are eating, that gives me a little more information. :)

I too would be hungry in an hour or two on 1/4 cup of eggs & sausage or 1/2 cup of chili. My surgeon says up to 1 cup of food per meal for bandsters or 3oz lean Protein and 1/2 cup of low carb veggies.. which usually measure out to just about a cup.

If your bariatric team says to only eat 1/2 cup of food per meal..and you've been satisfied on that during the school year when you're busier, maybe it is time for a fill.

Or maybe it's time to find something to keep you busier between meal times? Hard to say if the snacking is due to real hunger or boredom from this side of the computer monitor. :)

Check out Alex's post on how to determine if you're in the green zone, it may help you decide. My advice is to still go in and talk to your doctor or nurse. I don't always get a fill on my visits, but I keep the appointments anyway. I find it helps keep me on track. I also take in my food journal (about a weeks worth or so) so they can go over my choices with me and help me tweak as needed.

I agree. You're clearly in the green zone. Don't mess that up! But, definitely keep your appointment and discuss the issues with your doctor.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
