LVGirl 4 Posted July 5, 2011 I have my appt today for my first fill and am wondering if I should even do it. I feel like I have restriction. I stop eating when I am satisfied. I guess this is something they will go over with me when there (?)
Jess55 97 Posted July 5, 2011 If you're feeling satisfied with what you are eating there is absolutely no reason to get one. I did not get my first one til 5 months post op. My doc doesnt seem to even encourage them ( he didn't mention one until I said I was beginning to feel hungry at 5 months). I am still hungry now but I put off making an appointment, now the soonest I could get one was not til the 14th:(. Oh well a little more time to decide if I really want one. But if you don't feel hungry between meals, there's no need.
Jenn1214 120 Posted July 5, 2011 I would still go to the appointment anyway. The fill nurse will talk with you and determine if you need a fill or not. If you don't need one, you won't get one, but at least they can see what kind of progress you are making and you can ask them any questions that you need to. vickyd 24 Posted July 5, 2011 Agreed. I didn't have my first (and only fill) until 3 months after surgery. If you are losing weight and don't feel hungry in between meals then there is no reason to get one. Go ahead and keep your appointment so they can track your weight and answer any questions you have but don't let them talk you into a fill if you don't need one. LVGirl 4 Posted July 5, 2011 Oh, I will be going to the appt, but the fill is something I have been pondering for the past week or so. Thanks for the advice!
Thee-O 15 Posted July 5, 2011 I had my 6 week appointment about 2 weeks ago. I had the opportunity for a fill but since I am losing good weight and I feel a good amount of restriction, the doc said it was fine to not have a fill at this point. As long as you are losing weight and are comfortable on your journey I don't see any reason to get fills. The fills don't do all the work for you. Your mind, motivation and will power overpower all the fills in the world
LVGirl 4 Posted July 6, 2011 Went in for my appt and did not get a fill. The PA asked me the following: "So you're here for an adjustment. Do you think you need one?" "I don't know but don't think so" "Are you measuring your food?" "Yes" "Measuring out 4 oz every time?" "Yes, but usually don't finish it." "Do you feel full when you finish your meal?" "Yes, I feel satisfied" "Are you snacking?" "No" "And you're losing....so nope! Okay, you're good! See you in a month."
