Not fair.....I know. :( I am on my 2nd fill and actually finally starting. I'm sure it has to do with how big your stomach is. Those that are bigger, will have more restriction. Good luck

I have lost 90 lbs with 1 fill and I think it is due to a couple of factors...band placement and what you are looking fir your band to do. I felt some sort of restriction from the beginning but I've never looked for my band to physically restrict what or how much I eat. Instead, I want my band to help me feel satisfied (not full) on a smaller amount of food and to not be hungry for 4 hours after I eat.

It also depends on what types of food you choose to eat.

If I had continued to eat nachos, fried foods, etc.. I would not have lost as fast, no matter how much fill I had.

I changed my eating drastically from unhealthy to lean Protein and low carb veggies and no white carbs. It makes a huge difference.

Amount of movement (aka exercise) also is a factor.

I agree with this completely! My food choices are drastically different then they were before banding.

Hi all going for my 1st fill 4th aug please tell does it hurt I am such a baby

My first fill was a little "ouchy" because my port area was still tender. Since then they've been no big deal at all.. and I HATE shots.

Tell your nurse/doctor how apprehensive you are and they will help you through it.

I just got home from my first fill. Definitely the anticipation was worse than the actual event. A little 'ouch' due to the scar tissue, and that's it. The best part. . .I've lost 20 pounds post-op!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
