Hot Weather and The Band

Recommended Posts

Does anyone's band get tight in the heat? We went to the 4th of July parade today and while I was in the shade and drank at least 64 oz. of Water to keep hydrated I felt my band get tight and a bit whoozy. Keep in mind it was 94 degrees this morning (gotta love Texas).

Have not had trouble with weather, I live in so. Florida, but it was cooler today outside. My problem is potassium. Has anyone else had trouble with potassium. The powder if vile so I want to get off of it soon.

I take Vitamins so I did not expect this. My legs swell and my heart beat races every once in a while. Other that that I'm doing ok. I was banded the end of April, lost 35 then when I went on solid food, I quit losing.

I am keeping the faith but I worry I'll never lose again. Sure was sweet while it lasted. Hope your band is not so tight tomorrow, no more parades for you. Happy 4th.

I have no problem in the pool. I wonder if it was just hot this morning and no breeze. My band seems to be tighter in the morning.

oh Yeah! Once the heat wave hit the East Coast this summer - forget it! I had no appetite, it was hard to eat anytning at all. My band felt super tight. As the humidity lessens in the air, my band is feeling better.

I am glad I am not alone with this phenomena

:)

It actually has nothing to do with the temperature outside but rather the barometric pressure.

The higher the barometric pressure, the tighter the band.

And barometric pressure is higher in warmer weather because warmer weather is usually accompanied by clear skies. As a storm moves in, its low pressure upsets the pressure and drops the barometric pressure, thereby loosening your band.

Clear skies = high pressure = tight band.

Stormy skies = low pressure = loose band.

Watch the weather and you'll notice that you can eat more on rainy days than you can on clear days.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
