I started my period the day after surgery, but wasn't due for another two weeks...is that normal? I'm on bc but didnt take it the morning of surgery due to npo after midnight. I didn't take it the next day because I was so doped up to remember but started that evening. I have skipped a few days before and have never started my period because of it. Just curious.

Everyone's body reacts differently to that TOM after surgery. After my gallbladder and appendectomy surgeries, I didn't get my TOM till a month after the surgery itself so I skipped a month. I'm due for mine on the sixth but having had my surgery on June 24th, mine might be delayed a week or two, possibly a month due to the fact that your body has suffered a tramua.

I got my TOM over a week early during my 2-week liquid diet. I'm assuming that the dietary change caused it. Add missing two pills to dietary changes, and it might have been enough to jump-start your cycle!

The surgery can throw your body off along with not taking your bc. I'm on seasonique (i have my TOM every 3 months) and I started 3 weeks early right after the surgery. But during the actual time I was supposed to have it, didn't at all. Yes, this is normal...your cycle may be a little irregular over the next few months even because of the hormonal changes as well. I was told to be extra careful about pregnancy during this time because bc may not be enough with the changes going on.

I was required to stop all birth control 4 weeks before surgery because of the chance of blood clots. My surgeon and OB/GYN made sure of that. However, I also got my TOM the day after surgery as well. I could not tell you whether or not it was supposed to come because I am irregular, but I did find it strange that I got it the next morning.

I too started the day after surgery which was two weeks early. The surgeron's assistant said that it wasn't uncommon for the stress of surgery to "induce" the TOM.

Yes. My doctor told me that my TOM could be erratic for a month or two after surgery. Told me to be careful reference birth control (we use it anyway) in light of that.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
