Rubbing? HELP! Just banded :(

Recommended Posts

I was banded 5 days ago and it feels like either my band or the port is rubbing. When I sit down, it feels like there is friction against.. lord knows what-- my ribs or diaphragm? It feels like something shifts inside of me. Then when in the seated position, its uncomfortable.

Has anyone else had this issue!

I am so nervous!

I was banded on 6/30. I haven't had that problem... yet! I am still kinds or sore and it hurts to lay on my sides.

I am having the same problem! I am 7 days since surgery...I 'feel' it inside me all the time. Even when it's not hurting (which is very rare). It typically has a constant dull ache that often deepens to a sharp pain with getting up and down, walking, or simple repositioning. It feel 'tight' and 'rubbing' in my abdomen and when I breathe it feels like it's almost slightly shifting around..I have to sit VERY straight to get comfortable.

On top of this I have to go back to work tomorrow,,,a bit concerned about this.

Well,,,good luck, let's hope this is just because we are newly banded...

I felt an odd sensation as well and it does go away. I think right now it's due to the swelling and possibly still the gases. I'm 6 weeks post op tomorrow and don't feel any of that anymore. Give it another few days to a week and I'm sure you'll start feeling better.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
