Hi everyone. I am sorry if don't know the etique yet but I am willing to learn. I had Lap Band surgery june 23, 2011 out patient. Feel great - no problems. Feel like I can eat anything I want. I had cler fluids day one and day two, then Protein Shakes for the 1st week. Friday I progressed to soft foods. I am hungry I think (still trying to figure out what I am - if it psychologically hungry or really hungry). Do I just need an adjustment when Isee the doctor or will it lways be like this? Thanks for your patience and help.

Right now you just need to heal from surgery. Every doctor is different. Mine won't do the first full til eight weeks. Just be patient and follow your doctors instructions. Fight through the hunger, both physical and mental. Restriction will come in time.

HELLO!!!! We are lap band buddies because I had my Surger on June 23rd, too. :)

My doctor requires 64 ounces of Water PLUS the Protein shakes. You might be craving Water because the meds they give you in the hospital can dehydrate you. If you can't stand water, mix it half and half with juice like apple juice. Also, check to make sure your Protein Shakes have LOTS of Protein in them. You might need to switch brands to help you continue to feel full.

One thing I've learned on this board is that every doctor is different in how they help you manage your lap band. If your doctor can schedule it, take a Post Op Banding nutircian class.

HUGS... TO MY LAP BAND BUDDY!

You are in what is known as "bandster hell", the time inbetween surgery and when you get restriction. Hang in there! Seems like most docs do the first fill 6 weeks out. Not to be negative, but the first fill may not do much. If often takes several fills to get to that "sweet spot". Took me 3 fills before I felt any restriction. Good luck and congrats on your surgery.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
