So today is day 4 for me post-op. My doctor limits my consumption to only Clear Liquids, which I could not be more sick of! I'm hungry and feeling a little down today. I don't really have a reason for posting other then that. lol - pretty selfish, right? I would give just about anything for some yogurt or eggs!

My doctor allowed yogurt during the clear liquid stage as long as it didn't have any chunks.

Stick it out. My doctor didn't allow anything but broth, Jello, sugar-free popsicles and sf drinks (no carbonation or caffeine). He had me on it 11 days, just short of two weeks. It's tough I know. I just finished it on Friday.

I feel down sometimes too. I am trying not to think too far ahead or behind. I am trying to stick to the diet as closely as I can because I need to make this change for myself. My health is ok but needs to be better so I can live to retire and enjoy my family more. There are things I'd like to do with them that at my current weight, I just can't.

I'm sure there are things you want to do for yourself since you decided to have the surgery for a life change. I hope things get better for you soon. Try not to get too discouraged.

:welldoneclap: I promise you things will get better !

Just take 1 day at a time, and it will go by.

I know it's rough, just think about every thing

that you had before, and stick to it.

Shirley.

I can totally relate. How long is your liquid stage? I'm on creamy starting tomorrow and I can't wait to have some cream of wheat. Lol

I can't have eggs until next Saturday.

Popsicles and naps help alot!

I was just looking on my food list and there are NO starches listed for any phase!!!!!! I have been so looking forward to cream of wheat and oatmeal and they are NOT on the list!!!! I had remembered that the nutritionist told me no potatoes; whipped or not, sweet or white; or any breads. Crud! I was really looking forward to cream of wheat. His phases are 1. Clear Liquids one week 2. Full Liquids - 2 weeks 3. Soft Proteins added one week 4. All soft Foods added one week 5. solid food Trial Period Beginssmiley-angry020.gif

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
