Does anyone else on here still find it super hard to take a compliment? I just feel like I have so far to go... My hubby gets suped irritated with me b/c I can't seem to take a compliment. I wish I could see the positive things but I'm just so stuck on "I'm fat mode" :(

I think most of us "fatties" have low self esteem. I know I do. I avoid going places because of my weight. I'm 3 weeks post op and I haven't lost enough that anyone would notice. When someones pays me a compliment for any reason, I tend to discount it because of my weight. I don't know if this gets easier as the weight goes down or not. Try to stay positive and just say "Thank you" even if you don't believe the compliment. It keeps the peace. A skinny person would never understand the feeling of being overweight.

I have found the response to a compliment to me is "thanks for noticing". You may want to come up with a respone you use whever you get a compliment. Sometimes I add "I've been working hard".

It's gotten a little easier but I'm trying to make myself better at it. Some people just don't know when to stop though and I wanna smack them. I've never been good with compliments someone says you look good, my answer is no I dont. There's this one vet at work who says I lost so much weight everytime she sees me and I just wanna smack her. Yesterday I told her, yeah thanks my goal is to become invisible LOL. Well I don't like her much to begin with. She's this eternally happy person who every single client she days is the nicest person. Gag I wanna scream. But I'm getting off topic. as you start to feel better about yourself as a person and the way you look it starts to get easier. I still hard it ghough

My response, and I practiced it so it would flow was, "thank you! I feel great!"

I've never been good at taking compliments about anything, much less my weight. Nowadays I just say a simple "thank you" and that's it. Then I try to change the subject because I get embarrassed by multiple compliments from many people. Hopefully this will change in the future...we'll see.

They are calling me the "disappearing act" at work and I know they are just full of it. I have lost 20 lbs, but it isn't super noticeable at this point. I know people mean well, so I try to smile and say thanks. I just don't take compliments well, due to self esteem issues, and I come across as "putting my self down" when someone gives me one. It makes me feel uncomfortable.

If you practice saying thank you, it will help to become a positive affirmation. You DO deserve compliments, you ARE looking great! You ARE getting healthy!

There is no need to bring yourself down after a compliment. People (most) are trying to encourage you when they say something. It's time we stop the negative self talk. Even if you are not comfortable saying "I feel great" after a compliment, or "I've been working hard"...just say, Thank you! Leave it at that.

The best one I got was from my hubby. He was going for either lovingly calling me bean stalk or a bone bag, it came out "Bean Bone." So that is my nick name now. "How's it going my Little Bean Bone?"

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
